And both look infinitely more readable.

Nope, and that is rather sad, really, isn't it?

Are there any more nominations? The polls should go up soon

Mary wrote: "Dragon shifter books tend not to be folkloric, because they tend to not have the Far Eastern dragons. (Draw One in the Dark and Nice Dragons Finish Last both start in..."

Would you like to nominate either of these books Mary?

message 55: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 1135 comments Hmm. Well, Nice Dragons Finish Last has more folkloric elements than the other, so I will put it up.

Great! I will put it in the Adult category as I see there is no mention of it being YA.

Kelsey wrote: "I should mention that I would totally nominate The Last Dragon, except that I can't figure out which category it would go in..."

Kelsey, please confirm if you are going to nominate The Last Dragon

We are short on original tales. Id love to find the version of Snow White and the 40 Dragons! Aside from the Sleeping Beauties: Sleeping Beauty and Snow White Tales from Around the World I can only find it in a German book Griechische Und Albanesische Marchen.
The tale is mentioned in this Surlalune blog:

Aw, I was kind of pulling for Dragon Slippers. If Jalilah is not nominating it, I guess I will. :)

I'd also like to nominate Dragonology: The Complete Book of Dragons, but I'm not sure what category it belongs in. When I worked in the library these books were shelved with YA, but I don't know if they are officially categorized as such. They are "fictionalized" reference books, so I'm not sure it fits as an original tale, either, but that seems potentially closest.

Good Dragon slippers as well as Dragonology will be added.
Lots of good books!

I found an on-line version of the version of Snow White that Mary was talking about, the one where she hangs out with 40 Dragons!

Does anyone want to nominate it for original tales?

It is! I would've been tempted to read one...

I've read Dragonology (and some of the other series Candlewick publishes with the -ology) to my nieces and nephews, and it's like a fictionalized natural history of dragons. It is YA, though certainly adults can enjoy it. It's been a very long time since I read it, but that's how I remember it.

Even though it's tagged as YA when I read some of the reviews it looks like it might not be. It's hard to know!

Katelyn (supergizmo) | 1 comments The Swords of the Six (The Sword of the Dragon Book 1) is a great book, with a few dragons in it. It's the first book of the trilogy, which is one of my favorites in the realm of fantasy. I nominate that.

Supergizmo, this is the nomination thread for the current group read, and we're already discussing the winners. Check here for the discussion threads: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

There's still a bit of time (about 12 hours) to vote on the next group read with a theme of fae/fairies.
