I know there are some, but a brief search failed to find them. If there are other threads you think should be moved to this folder, please posts links below and I'll take a look.

General guideline: Threads that have not already been resolved and that are likely to take way more time/effort than most requests, and possibly work by multiple librarians. Also, let's keep ones that are series- or award-specific in those folders.

Krazykiwi | 1767 comments It's been a while since the threads were active, but I still work on the Harlequin Horrors now and then. Maybe moving those threads here (or just the last one) would give them another kickstart?

I wonder if it's worth writing up a combination of posts #17 and #19 from this thread into a sort of a "Here's a great and neverending project for new librarians" post:

Although you might want to find someone less verbose than me to do it (I'll do it if you think it's a good idea, and nobody volunteers, but I'm... wordy :)

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 7180 comments These are not the whole thread, but a couple of posts that I think could be copied/pasted to this folder:

Ha! Our minds were working together!

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 7180 comments There is a thread somewhere about authors with initials without periods.

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 7180 comments This has turned into sort of a project, which is how I stumbled on the authors with dates project. (I think I have ADD)

Indeed, but notice how you used about 1/3 the words I did :)

Moved individual threads. It's not possible to move parts of threads, and any group member can start new threads in this folder (and should free to do so, if appropriate).

Dobby (dobby0390) | 4943 comments Another project that I stumbled onto is doing an author search for honorifics such as MR, MRS, MS, DR, SR... This invariably leads to not only correcting the author name but finding missing covers and combining editions. Some of the "Mr" and "Mrs" authors are apparently legitimate, but most are not.

Here's an Onix import that amused me: The author profile is Sr Dr Floyd E McDowell. Following the ISBN to Amazon showed his name to be Dr. Floyd E. McDowell Sr.

This was in a larger thread about fixes: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I hadn't known about using the "add book/author" search function in the comment box to find oddities; that was a valuable tip.

Melanie (mvalente89) | 1770 comments I don't know that there is a topic on this, but one thing I occasionally do when looking for something to fill the time is to use the search for "A Novel" or "A Thriller" in the title field. There are an endless supply of books that need those removed from the title.

ETA: Also, "A Romance Novel" yields a ton that have some variation of "A Romance Novel" as part of the title.

I think you could make a post for that. It seems exactly the kind of project this folder is about.

Great idea, I'll do that. One could spend years working on that alone.
