Series with identity crisis

I'm a librarian, but haven't worked with series yet, so thought I'd let someone else deal with this rather than make a mistake.

Book #6 in this series is set to be published next year. However, based on the blurb, the book is actually a reissue of book 4. Any clue what's going on? Anybody know how I deal with this? Or should I message the author and ask?
