SOLVED. MG/children's chapter book. Mystery about a girl named Dominique with an aquamarine ring. [s]

I'm not sure how old it is, but I read it in middle school between 2002-04.
I'm pretty sure it was a mystery, and the main character was a young girl. I remember her crawling through a crack in a wall or fence to get to an old house. And she met another girl in the house named Dominique, and called her Domi for short. And Domi had an aquamarine ring, which was central to the mystery I think, or at least it was mentioned a lot. And there was an old portrait of Domi with the ring on which was also important. And it turned out that Domi was a ghost/spirit and the main girl was trying to figure out how she died I think.

I keep thinking the title had something to do with the aquamarine ring or the portrait but all searches come up empty. Has anyone else heard of this book?
