Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Kisten and Rachel are very hot and heavy, but there are moments when he struggles to cope with the restraints that she has put on their relationship. He says at the end that he will gladly take her blood if she ever offers it. What do you think of these developments and can they ever truly be together?

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments Personally, I think they are a mismatched pair. I think part of the draw to Rachel about him is the danger inherent in being with a vampire, especially one whose sire is Piscary. Rachel is something of an adrenaline junkie and I think that's part of the attraction to Kisten.

I agree with Veronica. Even Jenks described her attraction to him perfectly. Rachel's feelings for Ivy seem to be stronger than that for Kisten. Feels like lust to me and her being in love with the idea of someone being there for her. Though, that conversation he had with Ivy at the end was curious.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Agreed. She likes the risk and she likes the idea of someone being there for her, but they are not a good match.

First, if he ever becomes undead then whatever feelings he has for her will evaporate.

Second, the blood drinking issue is problematic (and creepy). It requires a level of trust that Rachel and Ivy are working on, but Rachel doesn't have with Kisten.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I definitely agree that Rachel likes having someone there for her. The idea of a relationship is very appealing to her. It seems like she's always been something of a loner for most of her life prior to the start of this series. She didn't come into the series with any pre-existing friends and she never mentions having had any in her life, that I can recall anyway.

That's probably because she was so sick as a child. And, she's still missing her father. Maybe all these men are attempts to fill that hole.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments Good point, Jonetta! Her prolonged sickness as a child may also play into her need for danger and risk. Rachel is a therapist's dream.
