We learn that one of the reasons Jenks kept his distance from Rachel and Ivy was the knowledge that he is past his prime and will die soon (pixies only live 20 years). Thoughts.

It seems like such a short time to live, and then to think that that would make a pixy child an adult by, say, eight years old. Such a fleeting existence.
It broke my heart!! Surely, there's got to be a way for him to extend his life. I'd never even considered his life span, almost thinking they were immortal.
Very sad!The problem with extending his life is that is wrong to do so. Old life must end (however short the lifespan is) so that new life can begin. It's a cycle and to seek to lengthen ones life breaks that cycle. In all of the fantasy books I've read, seeking to prolong life or gain immortality is evil (Voldemort, Bilbo Baggins, the Ringwraiths...)
