I can't remember any character names either, which isn't helpful! It's 2 books, the main girl and her best friend are in a theatre club and in the first book the main girl plays Ariel in The Tempest and the plot is that she sends a message in a bottle which is found by a boy on an island and they start talking and fall in love. In the second book he comes to visit her, he sees her in a play where she's playing Medea and they go to a party and her best friend kisses him when at the after party. I read it about 5/6 years ago, I think the second book has got the world 'poison' in the title. One random bit I remember is she goes to a singing lesson and her teacher makes her practice her scales by singing what she has for breakfast. It's a YA novel and would probably be under the genre of romance.
