Sandra | 25912 comments D.G. put up the ones you want considered and I'll let you know.

message 353: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I have two covers with horses, one with a tiny ship (but the book is set in the 15th century so no mechanized there) plus a book with a guy rowing a boat. I don't think any can be used under the 'mechanized' rule.
The Steel Remains by Richard K. Morgan The Iron Rose (Dante Pirates, #2) by Marsha Canham Daughter of the Blood (The Black Jewels, #1) by Anne Bishop Jezebel's Blues by Ruth Wind

Sandra | 25912 comments DG, as long as the horses aren't being ridden bareback, they'd all qualify.

To mechanize - is to use tools ie harnesses, paddles, rigging etc.

Yes Mary, it looks like a train.

message 357: by Nichole (new)

Nichole | 1199 comments Looks like a train to me.

Sandra, how about this Duncan's bride by Linda Howard ? They're not actually on the horse but it's saddled.

message 358: by Moondance (new)

Moondance (moondance120) | 2140 comments I was assuming that a broom would work for this category until I saw the "mechanized". I do have car and motorcycle covers. Perhaps Reign of Blood (Reign of Blood, #1) by Alexia Purdy

A book away from an episode of hoarders (fidgit77) | 740 comments How do we feel about horses and ponies for this shelf?

Examples: Some Kind of Fairy Tale by Graham Joyce Resenting the Hero (Hero, #1) by Moira J. Moore

message 360: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (last edited Jul 05, 2014 04:33PM) (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments Nichole, saddles work.

If someone was riding the broom it would work Cheryl or Reign of Blood is good.

Sandra | 25912 comments Cristina, 2nd one works. First one no.

message 364: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments Good to know that saddled horses count. Although I have a train, car and motorcycle library ebooks to read anyway.

Thanks, Sandra. In one cover, the horse is in shadow so I can't tell.

I found others but they have the transport is very small.

Exposure by Susan Andersen Beautiful Disaster by Laura Spinella The Hard Way (Jack Reacher, #10) by Lee Child

In the first one, there's a little red car; the second one has a guy in the distance with a motorcycle; in the third one, there are cabs in front of the diner.

But they are all so far away.

message 366: by Moondance (new)

Moondance (moondance120) | 2140 comments Thanks, Sandra. My coworkers accuse me of broomriding episodes which is what brought it up. :-)

message 369: by Rachel-RN (new)

Rachel-RN (rachelgoodbyeborders) | 1368 comments Just curious if Your Planet or Mine? (Otherworldly Men, #1) by Susan Grant would work since she's in the cart and being pushed. (Definitely not mechanized though)

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments Spaceships, horses and broomsticks do count as mechanized transportation? Does that meán dragons, elephants and other creatures also count?

message 371: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments Thanks Sandra! Now to decide what to read...

message 372: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments Yes Melissa.

Tricky one Rachel, the cart is a tool, but is it transportation? I think no for this one.

message 373: by Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) (last edited Jul 05, 2014 07:05PM) (new)

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments @Cristina, I adored Resenting the Hero (Hero, #1) by Moira J. Moore series despite some misleadingly hokey covers. (The last book in series the author also has free on her website in ebook form).

message 374: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Does the cable car on the cover work Grim Shadows (Roaring Twenties, #2) by Jenn Bennett ?

Hina (hinaj) | 38 comments For "Hit the Road" shelf, would this cover work? Knight (Unfinished Hero, #1) by Kristen Ashley . The cover doens't show the full car, and just a bit of the tire...would that work? Its a long shot, but I thought I ask.

message 382: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra may claim slumber once she tends to her flock and grant us our fondest desire: early shelf

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments I've a new favorite drink (don't laugh): yoo-hoo spiked with Marshmallow Vodka.

Yoo hoo Yoo hoo — although not likely Gannicus-approved.

(Baja Blast Mountain Dew with their County Fair Cotton Candy flavored vodka is also yummy...it was a good Friday night.)

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments Ezinwanyi~still loves Spartacus wrote: "Seriously DA, that sounds a little gross? Does it takes good, I am having a hard time imagining yoo hoo and Skyy vodka"

It's marshmallow flavored vodka. And it's like a chocolate martini flavorwise with a hint of toasted marshmallow. Or maybe consider the yoo-hoo as if it was a replacement between the quality/flavor of creme de cacao or Godiva chocolate liqueur in cocktail recipes asking for those. Or as a graham-cracker-less s'mores martini.

Hard to get flavors across via text. Certainly nowhere near the quality of the Godiva chocolate liqueurs.

Okay. I love chocolate but don't like martinis. I'll just get a raspberry peach margarita

Yep, luckily I did go to bed so Gannicus couldn't sway me into an early shelf :D

Amy ~Lover of Books~ | 400 comments Most likely these are a yes, but I am just checking to make sure they fit for the new shelf:

Bone Crossed (Mercy Thompson, #4) by Patricia Briggs Drawn Into Darkness (Soul Gatherer, #1) by Annette McCleave
