The funny thing is, Morpheus and Alyssa also grew up together, in a way. They've been friends all their early childhood years too. Haha, but yes, he is anything but "normal" and I love him for it. If it wasn't for him I doubt I'd continue the series.
Yes, Morpheus can be a manipulative bastard sometimes, but he cares a lot about Alyssa and wants her to come into her own, be stronger, be the person she was meant to be all along. He has faith in her, that she is capable enough on her own.

I will not discuss this. I will not discuss this. BUT AGH. I just have to comment, lol :D I do not like Morpheus. I never ever liked Morpheus. I probably would have loved him, if Alyssa didn't already have a boy. If she wasn't already in love with someone else. I cannot stand triangles. And in these books I ship Jeb. Because he at least is more honest than Morpheus. I feel like Morpheus is just using her to get her to save Wonderland. Or whatever. But mostly.. I just don't care about these books anymore :p I wish I coud love them, but I don't. Sigh.

Why do you judge supernatural creatures by human standards, anyway? Morpheus is not human, and and the way he behaves is part of his nature/what he is.

I have to say, I wan't sure how I felt about Morpheus in the first book, but in the second, when I get more insight into his character, I'm really starting to like him.

Yay! People are alive! Welcome back! It makes sense to me, but I also feel the main character is being an idiot in them. I remember seeing one of my friends sort of liked two guys once. I was so glad when she decided she did not really like-like either. I really did not like one and the other was just alright.

It might be a Clockwork Princess ending, but I'm pretty certain it won't end with her only being with Jeb. You can't create a character like Morpheus and have your MC end up with Mr. Boring.

I read just today that the author thinks Jeb should be on the 3rd book's cover and that Jeb will get some netherling powers/ connection to Wonderland. It makes me seriously scared, because, come one, how can you even compare Jeb and Morpheus. It wish Jeb would just disappear so Alyssa could embrace her true self. But like it often happens in YA books, she will probably choose Jeb, go to college and live a "normal" life. Bleh.

I've to say the whole lifetime-friends-turning-out-lifetime-lovers is really hard for me to swallow.
I don't think I've found a novel/saga where I liked it yet bar an Italian series.
Generally while I like reading about strong friendships, I find stories where two characters grow up together, sharing dreams and all, and then undergo minor or major changes and still keep sharing those dreams of a common life together forever and ever a bit unrealistic and even sad.
I like my characters to reach for other things/persons when they go out their nest, usually when it doesn't happen it makes me feel a bit claustrophobic , like having that nest is enough while they can go and fly and discover the world. Now I'm rambling, sorry XD

Anyway, one of my favourite moments in the Wheel of Time series is when Rand and Egwene acknowledge they have outgrown their children self, that they could have spent their life together back at home if nothing had happened, but it had and now they've seen the world, they will care and back each other always but a life together is no longer what they want, nor it's a life where the dreams/goals of one mean the other one can't go and reach its own potential.

Very well put, Lys. That nicely articulates one of the issues I'd felt with Ron and Hermione. Although upon reflection, I think I was indifferent to romantic relationships across the board in Harry Potter. My interest drastically waned after OotP.

I read the first two books a while back, and I thought they were good. But it was a few years back, and I thought they might have been a little inappropriate. I ought to reread them at some point and see if I still like them. I remember being a bit iffy on the romance in it.

In the Widdershins Adventures, there is like a love square, and the one the main character has known/been friends with for the least amount of time gets her book 2.

And then there's the Raine Benares series, but the long-time friend is actually in some ways the darker and mysterious one, but the guy she ends up with she's known for less time.

And then there is the Spiritwalker Trilogy, in which the "bad guy" is the love interest (I only read book one, and that was the case then). It's set in like alternate conquered Ancient Carthage or something.

I think it's cool how we all feel differently about the guys in s&b and s&s, but we are all in agreement that jace is awesome. Maybe when our feelings cool down after ruin and rising, we'll all be a little calmer :) I know I will.

I'm not sure I will. One of the people at school I know thinks the Darkling is an a-hole (she told me as much today) and she absolutely hates how power-hungry he is. I literally started laughing (she still needs to read book 2). Another friend of mine, like me, though Malina was cute for a short while at the end of book 1/beginning of book 2, but much prefers Darklina. We have another friend now reading it. It might be a thing that sticks around a while. . . .

Since we have a lot of books in common and are pretty much all friendly, do you think we could form our own group and include more series or something?
