I read The Daydreamer Detective yesterday and it was painful!
It's a cozy mystery set in Japan. I admit that I prefer gory crime novels over cozy mysteries, but I enjoy books set in Asia and I have nothing against a well-written cozy mystery. I absolutely despised the MC from the first chapter (and there is no character development at all) and the plot is weak. I cannot even remember any significant events in the book. At least this was a freebie from Amazon.
Honestly though, Olympics was (and is) great!
It was a little something different with lots of varied aspects to it all and I enjoyed it a lot :-)
Hope everyone else is having fun, too! :-)

I thought Olympics was a lot of fun (although a bit hard to keep track of). I'm looking forward to Wheelaton starting :-)

No! She never! Wow - above and beyond!

Never played it - so will be a learning curve for me :)
Looking forwards to it

Right?? :-)

Right?? :-)

I did what I had to do...It may have given me some emotional distress...but it was worth it in the long run.

There are very few Romance I have actually enjoyed. I just tend to stray away cause I feel like I am wasting my time on a book that wasn't worth it in the end....it that makes sense to anyone.

When I first got into romance they felt so fantastical in a good way and amazing and I just devoured them. But now, I don't know if I'm cynical or if the books just got bad - they feel way less realistic and believable and I find myself shaking my head more.

Here's the story of our chariot:
- - - - -
Team Dire Wolves used all their skills to assemble a mighty chariot. Working together they gathered all the required items. The wheels were a big problem but Megan and Sarah managed to acquire two sturdy wheels - the front wheel from a motorcycle and the back wheel of a car. They are not exactly the same size, so the chariot is slightly lopsided, but the team would not let such tiny details derail them from their task.
After a bit of confusion and many unsuccessful trials involving various gardening tools, the chariot could finally be assembled using an old hammer that Ozana found in an abandoned toolbox and a wrench MH stumbled upon. Letitia also supplied a thick rope she had laying around. Everyone on the team came with suggestions on how to paint the chariot, but none of them pleased team leader MH. Alanna and Jacki finally found enough blue and yellow paint - the only colours the Swedish team leader would approve of. Everyone then helped out to search for items to decorate the chariot with. To avoid a repeat of the issues with the paint, the team members searched for the one thing they knew MH cannot resist: pretty rocks. They found a large selection of diamonds and other gemstones, as well as a golden mask, some blue fabric, red flowers, and lots of tulips. Some chains and straps were also added.
So the chariot was assembled, but the team was facing a big problem: they had no animals to pull the chariot. They all searched for days and days and were getting so desperate that MH volunteered, as a last resort, to venture outside her comfort zone of criminal investigations and go on a 754 page long (!) journey into fantasyland to find a wolf to help them. Luckily, the combined efforts of Megan, Jennifer, Karen, and Melanie saved MH from taking such drastic measures.
The chariot is now pulled by a wolf (possibly even a Dire Wolf), with back-up from two dragons and a horse. In case the dragons eat the horse, a bear is ready on standby.
Letitia donated one of her daggers for the driver to use as protection (more likely against the not so domesticated animals than against any other drivers encountered in the hippodrome). However, since no team member volunteered to drive the chariot, Shy found a cartoon cutout of a woman to serve as a driver, and everyone agreed that it was a great solution.

How did your chariots turn out?

Love it MH. Go Dire Wolves, we rock!!!!
Woohoo! That's great!! :-)
Sabertooths didn't write a story for theirs though we have a running commentary through all the reasons why the supplemental books work.
Some flames, modeled after the Hunger Games chariot, some bling, some roses, etc etc. It was good fun putting it all together :-)

I was just swinging by here because I thought this thread was utterly too quiet, and realised I never saw your post Maria Helena!
Hardest square... hmm... I think that may have been the one with "Each" in title and a picture with beakers on it. There were a few that made us scratch our heads a little, but I think those were the more complicated ones.
Best link - not sure! Maybe the one where we went hunting for books read by the Flying Squirrels so we could compare them to our reads to establish a connection.
What about you guys??

Yes, I have heard several people say the same thing.
I usually love how big part the different parks play in her books but this time it was just a random forest, and it wasn't described in the usual vivid way. I think Anna is a great character, but she was definitely not herself in this one. (And the plot was just so ridiculous that I was rolling my eyes over and over again.) I've been reading the series out of order, so I'm definitely go back and focus on the earlier books and stay away from the more recent ones.
