Advance Copies?

Wondering how there are ~1500 reviews for a book that's not yet published. Do the publishers typically give away that many advance copies? Just curious! Thanks

I am often sent advanced copies specifically for review; most of them haven't been proofread, which is the norm. Whether such a high number of copies is released I don't know; all I can tell you is I receive them on a regular basis - The Girls being one of them.
