Oooh, that sounds cool. I've never really read any historical fiction. I've gotten a lot of recommendations for Outlander, and it's in my 'maybe eventually read' queue, but it's such a long book and it's so intimidating!

Maybe if I ever take a week off of work to take a vacation by myself! I might be able to pull that off if I picked short books. But not this week with work and guests coming to my house. :P

Ehh, sorry if I'm rambling on.

This is the first year I've done a very substantial reading challenge at all. Prior to this, I tended to read maybe a book or two a month, but I eventually started ditching TV/Youtube/Reddit/Netflix in favor of books, and discovered the joy of audiobooks during mundane tasks. I planned to read 52 originally, but... well, I've obviously gotten a bit ahead of myself. Now I'm nearing twice that!
So I guess I plan to read at least a certain lowish, definitely achievable amount, and then increase the goal by at least 1 per week remaining in the year if I surpass the original goal.

Possible squares:
Published in 2016
2nd in series
Death/grim reaper - people have died
Skull & crossbones - people have died or there is a girl who got bit by a poisonous snake
Syringe - they gave the girl medicine through a syringe after she was bit by the snake
Nurse - there is the medica who came to give the girl the shot and assess everyone's injuries
I'm also reading Every Heart a Doorway

Maybe the clown- the book deals with kids who went through magical doors and then come back to reality. Or there are worlds they call Nonsense where things don't make sense. I think a clown would live there cause somehow they get their big selves out of little cars, have big feet, and have a big red nose which is just ridiculous.
Oh and i almost threw my tablet when i saw that clown. I'm terrified of those things. They're freaky

Can we use the clown since the book is about the arrival of their child and the clown is a kid?

I have always loved to read but had gotten away from it the last few years and I realized how much I missed it so when I found GR it gave me a new motivation. Generally I read on my lunch hour and maybe before bed and I can do about a book a week so I set my goal for 52. I wanted something doable but not overwhelming. However since joining the Red Pandas and loving having a 'reason' to read and the fun of helping the team, I am striving for 2 books a week so I will easily reach this year's goal. 8-)

finally got home from work and could look through my books without fighting with my phone LOL and have found one I am going to start.

What COULD Possibly Go Wrong? by Jodi Taylor
This works for the square with "Title Contains Could" and I figure that is a harder one to get so I will claim that first. Besides it has 476 pages so it means more points. Still plan on reading a Historical Fiction book (I have about 12 in my to read pile LOL) so if that square is open when I get to it, that will be fine.
Wheee! I love having a task! I am off to read...8-)

Bride by Mistake by Nicole Helm.

possible squares and reason- grim reaper- heros first unborn child dies so wants to do things different this time.he also loses his grandmother , the only person who ever loved him.
- clown since the clown is a kid and the book is about the H/h planning a future fr their kid.
Or bank

Anyway, it's hard to tell what people are claiming v. just mentioning, so I checked off all the mentioned squares in my personal tracking spreadsheet, which left me with 5 no one mentioned. Much easier to look for somewhere to put Redshirts in 5 instead of 25!
Claiming Poseidon, square O4 for Redshirts from the bank, because he's god of the sea and there're a few very imporant scenes that happen in the ocean/beach at Santa Monica.
Claiming hare, square g1, because "traditionally, rabbits are associated with fertility, sentiment, desire, and procreation" according to this and in the book I'm reading she talks a lot about having her kids (procreation), and her family/hubby in general (sentiment, desire).
I didn't see Dark Places (from bank) mentioned or assigned to a square and would like to suggest b5 "9" square since no one has mentioned the 9 square and Debby Day was 9 years old when murdered.
Also want to mention that Kelly from Terror Birds read HP & Cursed Child.
That's 4/5 squares no one had mentioned, Wo0t! :D The other one is Title Contains Man, so I might go looking for that... after I do these chores on my to-do list. siiiiigh. Dishes! Why are there always dishes!?

Anyway, it's hard to tell what people are claiming v. just ..."
Thanks Ray! I am glad someone can understand the confusion LOL. Basically I am reading a book now for I4 ( title contains Could) and would like to do one for B3 ( Historical Fiction)
Oh and my banked Miracle book would work for Nurse but that was just a suggestion.
I thought though that "Dark Places" was used for the Suspense square on the last board and was eaten by the shark? But you are right it does not say it was used on our spreadsheet.

Square: N2 Book won an award
It won RT Reviewers' Choice Award for Best Erotic Romance (2012)

This should work for the beakers - he is at university during a portion of the book and learning alchemy and chemistry
It could also work for the syringe - again at university he is studying medicine (he is a busy guy).
It has won a bunch of literary awards, but I think that one has been filled by margaret.
Let me know once some of this has been sorted and I can see if it fits anywhere else.
I have a couple books lined up after this as well!

Speak is an automatic for the made into a movie space, that's awesome. :) I'll leave the others for the moment to see how everything else pans out.
I'll also avoid putting you down for anything specific until we see how the squares shake out - you're the ace up our sleeve, thank you! :D

eta: I'm going to keep going through books, but updating my goal post instead of entering them on the spreadsheet, just in case.

ETA: And I'm pretty lost too as to what's claimed and not, and in what order we're doing things (banks books first?) and everything. But good news! We don't have to know what's going on. That's Kazen's job, hahaha. :) And she's here now so I'm sure it will all become clear soon!

Historical fiction is all yours! Wolf Hollow Lane is also ready to go in the nurse slot :)

I split the difference - I usually have a list of books with upcoming publication dates that I should read sooner rather than later, but the order isn't set. So I'll look at those books, see what strikes my fancy, and go with it. There are times that I just break out and borrow a book for fun, because sometimes I needs me some romance/mystery/whatever, you know? :)

Once I get through everything and the goal post is updated let me know which one you'd like to grab! :)

Great work! I'll put you down for the clown, as it looks like we have a lot of grim reaper options. :) If you'd like to claim a square for your current read let us know!

Okies, I'll put you down for Could instead of historical fiction - thanks for taking on one of the hard goals!

Thanks as always for your awesome detective work! Here's what I've slotted in:
banked HP and Cursed Child for the Terror Birds slot (read by Kelly)
banked Redshirts for Poseidon (imp. scenes at ocean/beach)
banked Dark Places for 9 (9 when murdered)
...and I saved you a spot for hare/rabbit.
So many slots filled in one go, yeaa!

The shark doesn't eat the book completely - it just has a taste before moving on. We can't touch it until the next board, though, because shark cooties. ;)

This looks perfect for beakers, so I'll put you down for that. :) Good luck getting through the last bit!

Current pattern: Coverall (Bonus - 100 points!)
Bold goals are unclaimed goals.
Underlined goals are done and waiting to be entered in the spreadsheet.
