Red Pandas

Hehehe, whatever makes you happy! I recently widened out from one book to three... a book for every occasion, I say ;)

Oh, this is the suck. Sending many calm thoughts and quiet dark rooms your way.
❤, a fellow headache sufferer

Not you, too! This explains why I had a mini migraine earlier this week - it was in sympathy for you guys. Sending calm, quiet, dark thoughts your way, too. ❤

I've also discovered the shooting, woah. I knew of clay pigeons, but I've never seen anyone shoot them... not exactly my thing. But I feel like a more rounded person for knowing those events exist. ~nodnod~
So yeah, not reading as much as usual. ;)

With my work schedule and new puppy to play with, I don't get to watch a lot but I have been following the swimming and the gymnastics which they show in prime time here. Most of the unusual events are on during the day 8-( so I miss them. My favorite of the summer games was always the Equestrian events but they hardly cover any of that here.

In Twenty Years by Allison Winn Scotch .
Have a great day all! And Ray I hope you are feeling better! *hugs

My favorite from my uncle was when he barricaded me in a storage unit while looking for campin gear: "Are you trap-ped?" Or when some electronic device wasn't working right, he would swear: "It is fuck-ked!" Hahaha. (though many Deaf people don't speak/speak much/speak clearly, Uncle Steve has a great, clear voice--which makes it so much funnier.) 2 of my g-parents were Deaf, and 4 of my mom's sibs married Deaf people, plus I studied ASL some and considered becoming an interpreter so I've been surrounded from a young age. In fact, my g-ma's deafness probably made me the reader I am today! I taught myself from the captioning on the tv when she lived with us when I was 3. :)

Dr. Tammie here...When I was 16 I had a headache situation that was so severe I was taken to the hospital as well...it turned out to be Viral Meningitis...the viral kind not the horrible kind. Have them check for that if they haven't and are still trying to figure things out...I hope you are well soon!

Sorry Just thought I'd add in a headache story =]

Tori - This is terrifying to me!! I'm allergic to mold already and have had sinus issues along with all of this. Plus, I opened a tub of wall spackle and ended up with a face full of mold during this whole thing. No one seemed to care about that detail. The moldy spackle was immediately closed and thrown out, but I still think it might have contributed. *shivers* so creepy, thinking of colonies of mold growing in me. yuuuuckk... I'm glad you had yours figured out and dealt with..? Is it the kind of mold that stays with you forever causing weird symptoms? :/
Tori wrote: "When I was 10 I had headaches almost every day of my life for a year from sun up to sun down. Turns out I had a horrible mold infection in my sinuses that they didn't find till my second cat scan."
Hi Dr. Tammie! :) I suggested meningitis in the beginning, but the nurse sort of laughed at me and said she doubted it was that. They did lots of blood and urine tests, so I expect it would've shown up somewhere... hopefully?

Thanks. I think it'll be a few more days.. but I'm at least a little functional today. I even read a few pages. *weak smile*

I say all this to say that now might be the *best* time to take a breather! In case you were on the fence about it. ;) I'm glad I'm sick now and not during one of the 'harder' events!! Totally needed a break too. And I think the team would rather have us rest now and back on point for the upcoming events. :)
Bethany wrote: "I *may* slow down a bit on the reading. I'm starting to feel a bit burnt out from trying to get through books so fast, and so I might take a bit more leisurely of a pace for a while. I have gotten 11 books ahead of schedule though, so it's probably fine... "

But now that you know what it is you can fight it! Some people have triggers - for me certain kinds of alcohol and cheese can bring on a migraine, so by avoiding them I make my life easier. :)
And about meningitis - when ER docs try to figure out what's wrong with you they start with the worst case scenario and rule them out one by one. Any severe headache will have meningitis, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and similarly scary things at the top of the list. Luckily if your blood tests and CT are clean they can cross that off no problem. :)

I thought the nurse would be interested in my neck stiffness when I mentioned meningitis and she was the first person I saw that time, but no. *shrug* maybe I already had some 'not meningitis' flag I didn't know about. Not sure. It was the mean nurse who spoke mostly in nurse-code and I had to say, "I don't know what that means" a few times. Gr.
My eyes are dilated, boooo... Nothing wrong with them though. Still close to 20/20. :) But can't really read for a few hours. :/ Guess it's time to catch up on Killjoys. ;) :)

I liked it more this time. Was still a fairly quick read.

Ha, I did the same thing!

Have you read the Lord of the Rings books? Those are also very popular and have not been read by my eyes.

Bethany, I can definitely understand that. I usually don't like to re read things. There's so much books out there that still need to be read. That's the way I look at it anyways. I know many people love re reading their favorite books though.

13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl by Mona Awad

I thought this book was well-written. I hoped to find it relatable, but mostly it just made me sad. Largely focuses on self-esteem issues that I don't have in the same magnitudes. Good book, engaging, empathetic; just not something of the sort I would want to read again.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

BTW - Love sci-fi! Fantasy mostly puts me off with unpronouncable words and new languages to learn, and just.. too fantastic? I prefer the science.

Interesting to me that school had you read it! In the USA, HP was very high on the banned / challenged list for books due to overzerlous religiousness here and the 'witchcraft' / occult / magic-whatever in the books. I'm atheist so I don't really get it, but that stuff really gets people upset.

Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire"
The Mira Grant/Seanan McGuire parade marches on! :D

This is totally fine! Wobble is a loooong challenge, we're all going to have periods where we read more or less. I say it a lot, but read what makes you happy :)

I've never felt weird that way and I tried to figure out why. Then I realized - without my glasses I can't see anyway, so dilating my eyes doesn't change that much! Hehehe.

Fifty Shades Freed"
If there were a task like "read a book with the word fifty in the title" we'd be all set! ;) Nice work.
