Ray (user2637) (hugpete) | 1521 comments My recent short books Dancers In The Dark and The Sontaran Games don't really have decorations on the covers for Chariot, unless we want to count the armor the Sontaran is wearing.... But, if we use Nano Contestant - Episode 1 Whatever It Takes by Leif Sterling 's gauges for a decoration, we can swap one of the two above into its PJ spot. Ditto a second swap and using the teeth from Primeval Fight for Survival by Alicia Brodersen as a decoration.

Whaddya think?

Those two plus the spikes from When Did You See Her Last? (All The Wrong Questions, #2) by Lemony Snicket and the fringe from It's Not Me, It's You Subjective Recollections from a Terminally Optimistic, Chronically Sarcastic and Occasionally Inebriated Woman by Stefanie Wilder-Taylor would cross off 4 decoration books and make a wildly ecletic chariot! ;) :D

Bethany, hello and welcome! I'm Kazen the captain that was latest getting to the thread, hehe. Rose and Margaret said everything I planned to say so... welcome! (Did I say that? I may have said that.)

You don't have to worry about posting all your previously read books in the thread here, no worries about that! Just put any book you started (and finished) after June 17th on your wobble shelf and we'll take care of the rest. Feel free to read whatever pleases you until Saturday-ish, when the Wheelathon starts, yea! All of your books will count towards Wheel so it'll give us a nice head start. :)

A note about editions - the captains use the editions you shelve (paperback vs hardback vs kindle, etc) to determine pages and things, so make note of that when you add a book. Here in the thread you don't have to make the edition match up exactly... I usually pick the first one that has the same cover, hehe. The shelf edition is the important one. :)

So feel free to settle in and get a feel for the place before Wheelathon starts up. We're so happy to have you! :D

Ummm... we're doing really well on books with low page numbers, so a couple of these will probably be reserved for Wheel. Just read on, my friend! The rest will sort itself out :)

Okay. Just trying to get all 10 of the chariot decorations filled up and swapping them around would help with that! Will Bethany's books be eligible for decorations? She's got some cool gears, wings, and police tape. Gotta balance out all the flowers (said the tomboy). ;)

message 1759: by Kazen (new)

Kazen At least six Travel Agent books have decorations... that should help. :)

Caly ☯ Crazy Book Lady | 596 comments Hi Bethany and Welcome!

Nice to have another new face on board. I joined the team a few weeks ago myself and can I just say this is the best team ever! I have had so much fun getting to know everyone and I love to log in and see 'new posts' from the team.

What kind of books do you like to read most? I am always looking for recommendations and I will say that my shelves have definitely grown since joining this team.

Happy Reading! 8-)

Thanks! I should probably add a picture so I have more of a face.

Are you guys sure you don't want me to seek out another book with a specific number of pages? I'm a fast reader and can probably get through a 500+-page book in 2 days, and Wednesday is my "I have four hours during which I can do very little other than read or write" day, so...

I have been meaning to read "Graceling", which has 471 pages and a dagger on the cover, which could serve as a backup for the knife/dagger challenge or fill in E2 heat 4 451-500...

Or I would bet that I could find something intriguing with a dagger on the cover and a 551-600 page word count to backup either the dagger challenge or Tammie's E2 heat 3.

I just thought the Olympics challenges sounded so cool, and I'm sad I'm coming in at the very tail end of it!

Most of what I read has a fantasy element to it. I've been getting a lot of recommendations from friends lately though, which has led me to reading more sci-fi and YA and general fiction than I would normally be inclined to. Otherwise I would almost exclusively read fantasy.

Omg, I compared our books and you've read Uglies?? Hardly anybody I know has read it, it deserves so much more recognition than hunger games or John Green books tbh.

Hehe! That's awesome. :) I'm trying to get through Feed @599 pgs by Friday, for one of those last Page Jumping tasks. Not sure I can but it would be awesome if we finish all those!! Worth trying. :) go team!

As for support sprints, just pick any of the facets of a sprint and read for at least an hour. Post results here, with facet (drink, weather, etc) # pgs, & who you are supporting, and Kazen will a lot you into the spreadsheet. It's just for fun & team supporty-happiness. :D There's a big post about this but it's pages back & I'm on my iPod (read: browsing is hard).

Cool beans! We have somewhat similar tastes. I grew up reading mostly fantasy but found Historical Fiction about 10 years ago and I really enjoy that. I also read general fiction and have found some good suspense books since joining Goodreads. YA books are usually good too if they are well written, but I will never give up my fantasy books! *grin

By the way I sent you a friend request. We have not read alot of the same books (yet) but may I recommend The Gateway Trilogy starting with Spirit Legacy Spirit Legacy (The Gateway Trilogy, #1) by E.E. Holmes if you have not read it yet. One of the best series I have read in several years.

I'm going to be finishing up a 450-500 tomorrow, beyond that it looks like the only things left that people haven't said they are almost or fully done with is 500-550,550-600, and 600-650.
