Lory | 629 comments Awesome, thanks Ray! Just looking into potential books. I know we get points for coaching which are pretty good. So thought I would give that a try, potentially. Just keeping options open so I can be as helpful as possible!

Ray (user2637) (hugpete) | 1521 comments Currently reading:
The Mayflower Project for PJ H2 L3 151-200 (170 pgs).

Also, It's Not Me, It's You: Subjective Recollections from a Terminally Optimistic, Chronically Sarcastic and Occasionally Inebriated Woman for Novel RPG. I think it'd be a good Chariot decoration -- the fringe on the lampshade.

Me too! I keep checking the spreadsheet and picking books that fit in the open PJ slots, haha.

message 1554: by Lory (new)

Lory | 629 comments Yeah, I am doing that too, but Kate and Karin still need to claim a spot for their Page Jumping books, so I am trying to look elsewhere too so they have options :-) The open bonus really opens things up though!

It's very exciting getting a lot completed!

Way to go Caly! That was the perfect book for Distance.

As for what to read next, I'm thinking a Page Jumping book that has a Chariot decoration on the cover may be a good idea, as we could fit it in several different places. :) (eta: That advice is good for everyone who doesn't have a book to read next, too!)

A long book for Page Jumping bonus may work nicely, then. :) Books that would count for both PJ and a Chariot decoration are nice, too, because we could use them two ways.

Long books also work, yes, but they all have to be in order to count. No skipping spots. And we have some Travel Agent books that can fit in here. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. :)

Counting this one, we seem to have a measley DOZEN books left to until the event is √complete. YEEESSSSS!!

True, but again, let's not get too far ahead. A dozen books, but some are very specific books that need to be read by specific people. It is more than a mere numbers game. I love your enthusiasm but patience, grasshopper. ;)

Thanks to that bonus we can shuffle books around to either bonus or even chariot decorations if/when that opens up. So as long as they read a book we'll make it fit.

It's very exciting getting a lot completed!

It so is! ~bounces in her seat~

Kazen Hi everyone,

Yeaaaa books being read! The spreadsheet is really coming together. I'm off to work at a semi-far away hospital this morning so I'll see you guys when I get back. And you know what commute time means - reading time! ...though it's split up between four trains so I can't do a sprint, but still. Reading time! :D

message 1565: by prag ♻ (new)

prag ♻ (janayanation) If we are aiming for the higher page numbers in PJ, I have The Unexpected Everything which I really want to read. Higher than that, I have only sci-fi/fantasy series, generally the last book. Winter, from what I remember is somewhere around 800 pages, and I can always reread it.

Okay I am back in the land of good internet (though the land of surf, sand and margaritas was good too) *Grin

But I am ready to start another book and found this one on my list.
A Memory of Violets A Novel of London's Flower Sellers by Hazel Gaynor

It has those Violets on the cover so I would think that we could use that as a chariot decoration. And it has 432 pages so it would also fit in Heat 2 Leg 3 of Page Jumping. Whichever we need more.

message 1567: by Lory (new)

Lory | 629 comments Will do! I was thinking we couldn't read chariot decoration books until the chariot was completed.

Caly ☯ Crazy Book Lady | 596 comments Also I could not post this yesterday because the internet kept dropping out but while I was reading Bronze by Kerri-Anne Weston
I actually did a support Sprint! I did 2 hours under Blue Skies in the Afternoon while drinking Margaritas, I read 98 pages and would like to support Lory with this one.

By the way @Lory Have a great time in Knoxville and if you get hungry stop by Whole Foods Market for some fresh cut fruit! LOL

They don't count until completed :)

eta: Found it!

▲ Books do NOT need to be read in order. Will receive points for all parts completed, even if it's not everything. Supplemental Book points will only count if main chariot (17 books) is completed.

message 1570: by Karin (new)

Karin (karindem55) | 231 comments I'm about ready to finish my last Relay book. I had selected Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult for my Chariot task (open landscape), but I'm wondering if this The Language of Dying by Sarah Pinborough would work instead (it's much shorter) or even At First Sight (Jeremy Marsh & Lexie Darnell, #2) by Nicholas Sparks

I also need to choose a book for Page Jumping - but when I look at the spreadsheet, I'm not sure what slots are open (that tab in the spreadsheet is blank). Can someone point me in the right direction?

Kazen I'm not up to date with the spreadsheet (I Skyped mom, two hours went by in a flash...) but I want to answer a couple of burning questions:

Kate - any spot you want for PJ is fine, we'll fit you in! You can read anything at all, down to the 100 page minimum.

Lory - pears totally work on a chariot! And if you get hungry while you fight there's sustenance right there for the taking. ;)

I'll respond to everyone else and tidy up the spreadsheet in the morning - 2 am here, and I'm not a night owl! Darn time zones and calling home. ;) Have a great Friday you guys!
