Kazen Hey all! I'm here and catching up - going to let the spreadsheet update on the hour then go to town with whatever we can... go to town with. I hope it's a nice town. I would like a nice town.

(Yes, it was a long day at work, why do you ask :P)

This worked out great :) And for the record, non-whole number books (4.5, 0.2, etc.) don't count for weapon leveling, so this was perfect.

It's not over! Give me the reason and I'll put Margaret's book in for #4 in a series in the next weapon level :)

message 5713: by prag ♻ (new)

prag ♻ (janayanation) Ah, okay, so in One Indian Girl the protagonist wants different things from her life than what her boyfriend(s), mother & family want, but in the end she finds her way along with everyone's acceptance. You could say her needs are adequately met.

Also, could you put me down for T (Card 1) and remove me from #5, I'm not really feeling that series right now :/

Series books are great - leveling our weapon will help us not only now but throughout the tourney. Any open tasks would also be great, especially the non-spell-it-out ones. :)

Pragya already claimed the T but the author is Ana so we can use this one for A instead!

Re: dropped articles: they can be dropped, but that doesn't mean they have to be dropped. So any book that begins with The can be used for T along with whatever letter the second word starts with.

So I downloaded a new ebook reading program, figured out how to install and configure a plugin for it, then adjusted about 6 settings in order to make it count words in a file and/or pull the word count from GoodReads.

This book has over 25,000 words. I think it should count.

Re the main wobble rules:

How a "spell it out" works
Spell out the word(s) using the first letter in the book's title, the first letter in the author's, translator's or audiobook narrators first or last name, the first letter in the series name, or the first letter of a character's first, last, or nick-name.

As always, if the first letter of a title starts with an indefinite or definite article ('A', 'An', 'The', etc.), you may use the first letter of the second word in the title to spell out your chosen word.

If your book starts with a number (e.g. 24 Bones) use the number to determine the first letter (in this example, it would be T).

If reading a non-English version, then that edition should be shelved and it is that edition that would be used for the spell-it-out. (e.g. Il nome della rosa could count for a I or a N for the title (as the article is optional to be used).

I'll put you down for #4 and if the series holds up you're more than welcome to do #5 when you're done! :)
