Katharine | 92 comments In the time we have left, I could read for "600 pages" and possibly one more, or I could read 3-4 other goals. Thoughts? I am also about three-quarters done with The Paris Vendetta, which would work for "M" (MC is Cotton Malone)

message 3802: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments We have a couple of travel agent books left. We have one that can be used for 600+ page so would be more beneficial for you to read more shorter books!

message 3803: by Katharine (last edited Nov 04, 2016 08:11PM) (new)

Katharine | 92 comments Will do! I will start with The Silver Pigs (Marcus Didius Falco, #1) by Lindsey Davis which can be used for "gold/gold used as currency". I will also read The 5th Wave (The 5th Wave, #1) by Rick Yancey which will work for "Y" (author Rick Yancy).

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I think we could discard Card 3, reward is 20 gold for 10 books to be read. We have lots of gold atm, and would benefit more from XP points.

I'll peek at the spreadsheet and see what I can read. My schedule kinda got busy.

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments Same! I'm just not in the mood to really read. I had all this time yesterday, and I just watched some t.v. instead. I don't even like t.v. generally :(
message 3809: by Katharine (last edited Nov 05, 2016 04:37PM) (new)
Katharine | 92 comments Finished The Paris Vendetta and The Silver Pigs.
I feel the same way ladies. I've been pushing myself to keep going for the next day or so, and then I think I'm going to take a break.
This might be stretching it, but for "dangling reward", I could read Tilt-a-Whirl...MC's friend wants to help him put war memories behind him, so he offers the MC a job he thought would be "laid back"...as a police officer in a small seaside town. That's about as close as I can find on my TBR list.
~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments Read The Biggest Scoop.

CARD 5

You've never been one to try to outdo everyone else. No one really needs to go a whole 20,000 leagues under the sea when 5,000 is plenty. You're quite sure after traveling 5,000 leagues that there's really nothing more that would surprise you down there. You've seen all the fish, sunken ships, sharks and mermaids that you could ever care to see in the sea. Just make sure to take some pictures so you can have a few rounds bought for you at the Tavern after you've returned.
Travel 5,000 leagues and take pictures! Reserve a wonderful spot at the tavern for all your stories.
Leagues may be traveled by reading books. To determine the amount of leagues traveled by a single book, round down to the nearest 100 pages, then calculate 2 to the power of the number of hundreds of pages. (Hint: use the xy button on the calculator)
Examples: 512 page book -> 5 hundred pages -> 2^5 = 32 leagues
(If not all spots are needed, x out all columns)

Tasks:
•Book 1
•Book 2
•Book 3
•Book 4
•Book 5
•Book 6
•Book 7
•Book 8
•Book 9
•Book 10

Rewards:
•5 Experience
•1 Greater Heal Potion
•1 Shield Potion

As sad as I am that this is ending (and that we won't get to be a team the same way), I'm still incredibly relieved to almost be done with this challenge. I'm just too busy, and I want to go back and finish old reads.

message 3820: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments Any idioms in them?

It will be nice to take some time to read longer books again :)

You are really looking forward to that dinner since she just got back from Hobb'ton and everyone knows that Hobb'ts like fine cuisine and always have plenty of food and love parties. You reach Sir Audrey Jane's place and see her standing in front of her door, grocery bags on the ground around her, and she is searching her bags like crazy. "What happened?" "Oh, it's you. We can't get into the house!"

CARD 3

After hard day hunt, you enter into the Tavern looking forward to some cool ale and maybe some nice stew you know that's simmering in the back. After all it was you who brought rat meat for it. You're sitting at your table, drinking ale and thinking about quests that are waiting for you tomorrow, when you hear sniffle behind you. You turn around trying to find where the sound came from, but only Lady Kelly is sitting in that direction. You're little scared to approach her, after all she's the Master here, but your kind heart can't say no to damsel in distress. As you start approaching Kelly, you hear her muttering "They are gone. They are all gone. What am I supposed to do now?!" and she starts crying again. You sit beside her, offer her your not so clean handkerchief and ask her what's wrong. Through tears you find out that someone broke into her room and stole all her future quests.
"All future quests?! But how's that possible? There are no thieves in Novel Kingdom! I'll help you Lady Kelly. Don't worry, you'll have your quests back!?" you yell and storm out of Tavern to find a thief.

Tasks:
•Read a book where someone steals something
•Read a book where someone steals something
•Read a book where someone finds something
•Read a book where someone finds something

message 3832: by ~~~N~~~ (new)

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments Finished Fallen Crest High and Playing to Win. Probably won't finish 1984 in time. I lost (somehow deleted?) the wobble spreadsheet link, so I'm not sure what we need, but if someone posts the links I can try to find places for my books that aren't slotted yet. Also, I couldn't find any idioms in the other two books I mentioned.
