Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments Wow - I just checked the status sheet. There's a 7k point spread between first (13k) and last (6k) places

To put that into perspective, consider how hard we have worked so far. Our score is right around that 7k point mark...

Crazy!

It doesn't really matter to me - I enjoy the fun of reading towards goals - but there does seem to be a stark imbalance in team capacity.

Can't wait to see what's next!

:)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Great work everyone! :D

Rules for Labors will be up soon I guess as there's about 8 hours before it officially starts. For the meantime, we can read anything we want!

Has anyone read When Breath Becomes Air? I'm a few chapters in and my heart is in tatters already.

message 2704: by Ange (new)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments There is a huge difference in points, I think we can try to climb back somewhere in the middle. Work isn't as busy for me so I will have more time to read.

Kat I've added to my TBR, all those 5 star reviews!!

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments Finished: The Weight of Silence

The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf

It can be used for:
Labor 1:
◈ Dress up like a Basilisk to scare the Acromantula back home - Read a book where someone is under someone's spell (The mother is married to an alcoholic and abusive husband - she pretends it isn't happening. She is definitely under his spell.)

Labor 2:
◈ Survive Weathertop - Read a book where someone survives an attack (Several characters survive attacks)

Labor 3:
◈ Inquire with Charles Bingley - Read a book with a handsome man on the cover (He's a jerk - but he's handsome...)
◈ Check with Lydia Bennet - Read a book with a headstrong character (There are a couple of headstrong (men) in this book)

Labor 4
◈ Find Sherlock - Read a mystery book (It is a mystery)

Labor 5
◈ Hide your Stash - Read a book that has at least 5 different covers.
The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf Nada-Nada Sunyi by Heather Gudenkauf Por trás do silêncio by Heather Gudenkauf

Labor 6:
◈ Look in the Mirrors - Read a book where someone is murdered. (Spoiler - so can't say who)
◈ Visit a Psychiatrist - Read a book where someone is mentally unbalanced. (Father is mentally unbalanced)

Labor 7:
◈ Bring your Towel - Read a book that's title starts with T. (If "The" counts)

Labor 8:
◈ Rock the Schoolhouse - Read a book with a main character in school. (Callie, Petra and Ben are all MCs in school)

Labor 9:
◈ Murder - Read a book with a murder that happens during the book timeline. (see labor 6)

Labor 12:
◈ Pack your Backpack - Read a book that is 300 - 400 pages. (I listened to the audiobook - the most popular edition has 373 pages)
◈ Injure a Foot - Read a book where someone is injured severely. (Several characters are injured severely)

I loved it although it was very confusing at the start as it kept swapping time zones. I'm really looking forward to the next book as I imagine it will fill in what happened in between the 2 times some more plus continue the story. I think there is about a 300 year gap to fill in. I do wish i had read the 1st book again though.
