Elspeth | 101 comments Sorry I've been absent y'all, there's been some crazy stuff going on.

But I have finished Cocaine Blues (Phryne Fisher, #1) by Kerry Greenwood , which has an arm on the cover (175 pages), and am almost halfway through The Summer of the Bear by Bella Pollen , with an animal (bear) on the cover.

And congrats to all the winners! This team is awesome!

message 1818: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments So happy to hear you have interviews!! What type of work are you looking for?

You're definitely not a bad team player - we've been given such a great mix of friendly players! As long as you read one book per week and check in regularly you're all okay :D

message 1823: by Gillian (new)

Gillian Murrell | 497 comments Do we get a wheel spin before is starts so we can prepare?

message 1824: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments description

Wheelathon lasts for 4 weeks. The wheel has been spun and we have received:

Word
N
B
R
C
B
O

Colour & Task
Item on the cover is blue

Ashley | 1439 comments Gillian wrote: "Do we get a wheel spin before is starts so we can prepare?"

How's that for timing Gillian??

I guess they read my mind lol

message 1827: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments I guess they read my mind lol"

It was me sneaking off in the background to spin - had to prepare by collecting lucky objects and crossing my fingers of course.

So I think it's safe to say that the tricky letter is going to be "O" for this word!

message 1828: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments Oh and there's an Olivia in Lady Midnight - maybe not so tricky!

message 1829: by ~~~N~~~ (new)

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments Are we going to use the books we have saved up right away?
kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Good morning ladies!
kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Congratulations Karishma! Those exams paid off real well.
And Gillian is right, you're not getting rid of us easily. Do come hang around still! :D
message 1832: by Ashley (new)
Ashley | 1439 comments When Wheelathon opens...yes! We will probably hold off on using books that have trick letters (U, W etc.) in case they pop up later if we decide to get a different word.
I'm just in our official sheet jotting down possibilities on the unused book tab.
And good morning!
Scouring my TBR for a cover with blue items...
message 1834: by Kimberly (new)
Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments I have a 'B' book with a blue item on the cover.
kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I have Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale so could work for B and there's a BLUE dress!
kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Kimberly wrote: "I have a 'B' book with a blue item on the cover."
That's great Kimberly! I thought it was going to be hard finding blue items, not anymore.
message 1837: by Ange (new)
Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Im going to read as a start this week:
An Occurrence in Crazy Bear Valley - Fits O
Of Mice and Men - Fits O
message 1838: by Ange (new)
Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments we are coming last :(
message 1839: by Rebecca (new)
Rebecca (rebeccaemma) | 85 comments I read Never Never for Olympics but it wasn't used and it is 60% blue on the cover
message 1840: by Ange (new)
Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Hey Rebecca I deleted my earlier comment as after looking again I think there are different cover requirements depending on the task. I think the 60% rule is just if the task is to read a blue cover. But our task is to have a blue item.
message 1841: by Ashley (new)
Ashley | 1439 comments Ange wrote: "we are coming last :("
Then the only way is up!!
message 1842: by Ange (new)
Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Lol positive thinking I like that. We have a few books up our sleeve for this round too *rubs hands together*
message 1843: by Ashley (new)
Ashley | 1439 comments We do! Pretty much all of them will work for NBRCBOM.
Remember that short books are the key for this challenge ;)
message 1844: by Kimberly (new)
Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments I have a 'C' book with a blue item too. Still searching.
message 1845: by Kimberly (new)
Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments ...and an 'R' with a blue item.
I don't know what to start.
I want to make sure my efforts are useful.
message 1846: by kat (wanderfulbooks) (last edited Jul 22, 2016 08:28PM) (new)
kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Whatever book you decide to read Kimberly will be useful :) Wheelathon is pretty lax compared to the previous 2 events. Though I think we would need to talk about how many re-reads of NBRCBOM we want or do we try and respin to get the word that is the team name in our group and get that 100 point bonus
kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments To help Ashley out in figuring out where to place our read books, how about we include the main characters in our completion posts?
Example:
Book: Elantris by Brandon Sanderson
Date Read: 21 July
Pages: 615
Main Characters: Sarene, Radeon, Hrathen, Galadon, Kiin, Roial, Iodan, Ashe
message 1848: by Viji (new)
Viji | 389 comments I do not understand this rule:
Books used for the colour task MUST also be books used for the spell-it-out of that word
Could somebody help me in understanding this please?
Thanks.
Books used for the colour task MUST also be books used for the spell-it-out of that word
--> Think of it as hitting 2 birds with 1 stone. The book you read for the color task is a book that can be used for the spell it out too.
For example:
Our current word is NBRCBOM. Our current colour task is BLUE ITEM on COVER.
Correct: I will read Ranger's Apprentice by John Flanagan which I noticed has a blue cape on the cover. It will work for the colour task because it has a blue item on the cover and it will also work for the spell it out because the title starts with an R which is a letter from the current word - NBRCBOM.
Incorrect: I will read The Farthest Shore by Ursula Le Guin because there's a blue blanket on the cover. It will work for the color task because there is a blue item on the cover BUT it will not work for the spell it out because neither title, author, series name starts with a letter from the current word - NBRCBOM.
___
I hope this helps.
