~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments I hope you get better quick, Nikk. (that rhymes. lmao. I don't know why that entertains me so. xD I'm easy.) Hope you have a relaxing break filled with comfort foods. P.S. Tell me how you like the new Canavan series. We seem to have similar tastes on that vein.
I have started The Emperor's Soul. I'm over a quarter through and liking it. I do hope the story picks up though.
~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments Nikk, I compared our books and we have like 45% of your books in common.

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments That's interesting I would have thought it would be more

message 1704: by ~~~N~~~ (new)

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments Really? That's one of the better matches I've had. I have had a number that where better when considering my percentage though. Oh, and you've read Captive Prince! I love Captive Prince. It's the only series I've ever read in the ebook format and bought irl after finishing it.
kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Completion Post
Book,Author: Sorcerer to the Crown
Finished: 19 July
Task: Event 5, Animal
And I ended up liking it. It had a real slow start but finally kicked off. Not saying it was smooth sailing, there were a few pages I held off a yawn now and then but pretty much overall a good read.
~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments Read: The Emperor's Soul by Brandon Sanderson
Date: 20/07/16
Pages: 175
Fits: Event 2

I ended up loving it. Some books make you think about the past or the present, reflecting on your life and history. And, of course, some books don't make you think of much at all. But this one made me think of the future and identity. It was nice, and thank you for the rec. I want to read more of Sanderson's work.

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments Can I read for 151-200 (Event 2)? The Law of Attraction.
Currently Reading: Prince of Fools and No Apologies. Near the end of both. I'm somewhat putting off finishing Prince of Fools because I enjoy Mark Lawrence so much.
You're a model player Gillian so don't fret!
It's good that they are sending out email to refresh everyone on the challenge :)
Ashley | 1439 comments Ooooh I own Prince of Fools! I also own The Liar's Key. Maybe I should bump them up the list :D
message 1718: by Skandia (new)
Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments Just to let you know - I'm reading Night Owl and will be done with it before OG finishes. Not sure if it fits anywhere but still -Kindle version 233 pages.
And it's surprisingly good! Didn't expect to like it that much. I'm very picky what comes to this type of romance books and usually they are plotless but this one is actually great.
Saw the Mods e-mail. Not sure what to think of it. Should I resign? Because it looks like I don't meet the requirements for books read estimate. That's sad, but due to my current workload I probably won't be up to speed with the goal I set at the beginning of the year.
message 1719: by Ashley (new)
Ashley | 1439 comments Skandia - no resigning!! You've been reading and checking in so 10/10 :D
We have you down for 12 books a month - how many do you think you'll read?
message 1720: by Viji (new)
Viji | 389 comments I have also been assigned 12 books a month. I would like to keep it safely between 8-10 a month. If I could read more it is fine. But I do not want to fall short. How do I notify the Mods to reduce the book nos.? Or will it be alright if I fall short? I read more books only after joining WOBBLE and so I am not able to ascertain how many books I could read in a month. Could you pl. help me? Thanks.
message 1721: by Ange (new)
Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments I didn't get any message from the mods, maybe they are still sending them.
I also got the letter, Gillian.
message 1723: by Ashley (last edited Jul 20, 2016 01:13AM) (new)
Ashley | 1439 comments Hi Viji - you're on track. Everyone can see how they are comparing on the first page of the official spreadsheet; https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
The only people "behind" their reading estimates is Skandia (joined late so all good as sheet doesn't take this into account) and Angeline.
Ange - I know mods can only send a certain amount of messages so not to be spamming. The message (in bold) is;
Hey wobbly wobblers!
As you all know, WOBBLE is one of a kind. We issued warnings at the beginning, and we also are working very hard to keep the game fun and fair and competitive as requested.
That being said, there are a few things that need to be addressed.
1) This is ONLY a game. And it is supposed to be FUN.
2) This is a TEAM challenge. If you're not a team player, then this is not the game for you.
3)We have a one book a week minimum rule. However, if you signed up for 12 books a month we're expecting you to read around that number, not a book a week. If for some reason you can't do it, please let your team captains know as soon as possible so we can adjust your new number.
4) Fair play and assumptions. This is a game of TRUST. There is no way to validate if you're really reading or not, we trust that you are. So, if we ask a member if he/she is reading all those books and the answer is yes, we're going to trust that is true, not accuse said member of cheating.
5) Chain of communication. As said before, communication must be: members - captains - mods. That means, if a member has something to say to a captain of another team about her/his players, it is not okay to tell her/him directly. Please address your mentor first and let her take care of the issue.
6) Checking in. If you signed up for a chatty team, you need to check in once a day. Please remember that this is a team game and your captains need to know that they can count on you.
7) Questions (for captains). Before asking a question, please check the FAQs and captains lounge threads to see if it was asked before. The mods will be grateful
8) Again, this is supposed to be FUN. Situations like accusations of cheating, stealing ideas, and some more serious stuff that need mod intervention are not fun. Or very team like. Yes, a little competition is always fun, but please remember, this is just a game. There is nothing more involved than some reading motivation.
Thank You,
The mods of NBRC
Feel free to bring it up in this thread if anyone has questions or comments about the points that the mods have made :)
Leading on from the mods message I haven't been checking in as much lately. Unfortunately my dad passed away last week so I've been feeling a little drained leading up to the funeral which was today. I haven't been reading as much lately either. I'll be back here more now so you might all get a little sick of me ;)
message 1724: by Viji (new)
Viji | 389 comments I am sorry to learn about your great loss, Ashley. My condolences to you and family on this irreparable loss. I am winging my prayers to you that the Divine may give u strength to bear this grief.
message 1725: by ~~~N~~~ (new)
~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments I'm so sorry, Ashley. It's completely understandable that you have needed and if you continue to need a break. You have my deepest sympathies.

message 1726: by Skandia (new)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments I'm so sorry about your loss, Ashley.
Don't worry about reading and take care of yourself and your family.

I'd like to revise my books per month account to 8 books. If I read more, it's good, right? I'm sure about min 8 books per month, though.

message 1727: by Ange (new)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments I am so sorry Ashley. Beautifully said words ladies. Thinking of you at this incredibly hard time x.

message 1728: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments Oh Ashley. That's awful. I'm gutted to hear your news.

This is, after all, a game. A bit of fun. Maybe a distraction if you need it.

Take your time. We'll be here when you need us.

Peace to you and yours.

xx

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments Finished Night Owl
7/20/2016
233 pages / Kindle edition

That ending!

message 1730: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments Finished audiobook RUTHLESS PEOPLE

342 pages.

For page jumping goal.

I appreciate where the Mods are coming from. This challenge relies on people to be ethical - which is hard given so many of us are basically anonymous.

Our team has been wonderfully supportive of each other. Apparently, we're very lucky. :)

I hope I'm checking in enough for you all. I'm doing my best.

I advised before - but I'll remind again that 12 books/month is not realistic for me. 6-8 would be.

Once I start studying, I'll have even less time but will still do no less than 1 per week.

message 1731: by ~~~N~~~ (new)

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments By mid-August, I'll also be reading a lot loss. In fact, the only reason I'm reading more right now is that my visit to go see my family got cancelled and my course load is light for the summer semester.
So, I know I'm reading three books atm that I need to get finished, but I was a bad person and I reread the Captive Prince trilogy. I own them in paperback and it was so easy to take them when I was doing laundry (there's always so many people, and there's lines, and it takes hours). Anyways, it's been 6 months since my last reading, but what are the rules? Do I just add them to my WOBBLE shelf?
message 1732: by Gillian (new)
Gillian Murrell | 497 comments My heart goes out to you and your family Ashley such tragic news :(
message 1733: by Ange (new)
Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Noa I love it when I have to hang around for something and I can whip my book out, I havent had a lot of chance for that lately during the day as have been so busy.
My estimated books read are 1-2 a week depending on the size of the book. I had a burst at the beginning of the challenge but am back down to reading just a little more than I normally do.
message 1734: by Kimberly (new)
Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments I started CRASH INTO YOU last night. It's 13.5 hours long.
I don't know if I'll be able to finish it before the end of Olympics. I'll try but I think it might be impossible. Sorry. :(
message 1735: by Gillian (new)
Gillian Murrell | 497 comments Anyone have any idea what we still need to read? I'm down to just reading random books :(
message 1736: by Gillian (new)
Gillian Murrell | 497 comments Read: The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead
Date: 21/07/16
Pages: 401
Fits: Event ?
message 1737: by Ashley (new)
Ashley | 1439 comments Hi All - just a little bit of bad news. I've misinterpreted some rules...
We can't start reading towards the bonus rounds until ALL tasks for ALL events have been completed...this has not happened yet. Now before you all start wringing my imaginary neck I would like to remind you of the following;
1. We love reading
2. These books will be used towards Wheelathon so will not be "wasted"
3. I need my neck in tact to read and contribute :)
So sorry again :(
Ps. Thank you for all your kind messages :)
message 1738: by ~~~N~~~ (new)
~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments o.o What non-bonus books are unfinished?

message 1739: by ~~~N~~~ (new)

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments So, re-reads.
From yesterday (Date: 20/07/16)
Read: Captive Prince (240 pgs), Captive Prince: Volume Two (216 pgs), and Kings Rising (385 pgs) by C.S. Pacat
I added them to my WOBBLE shelf. Tell me if there's anything else I can do.
Since we have to get the event reads done first, tell me anything I can read and I'll push back my other reads for Wheelathon.
P.S. Do chariot decos not count as well?
message 1740: by Ashley (new)
Ashley | 1439 comments Event 5 - Read a book with a large animal on the cover. I'm just looking now to see if I can swap anything around to make it work
message 1741: by ~~~N~~~ (new)
~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments Fire Touched (from chariot decos) had a giant volcano wolf on it.

message 1742: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments Okay I've got it sorted. We can use an omni sack bonus to remove the compulsory read for Elspeth for Event 5. I'm then moving the lava dog thing from Fire Touched from a decoration to large animal and then we can have the bonus rounds open.

...Just give me some time to message the mods and finish the sheet. I'll let you know when bonus' are open

message 1743: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments ~~~N~~~ wrote: "Fire Touched (from chariot decos) had a giant volcano wolf on it."

Haha great minds Noa ;)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Caught up with the convo finally.

Thanks Ashley for keeping track!

I, too, will be reading a bit less come August til October maybe. Will be a bit busy so won't be reading as much but will still be clocking in the number of books I signed up with.

@Noa: I recommend Mistborn as your next Sanderson read. Or Warbreaker :)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments So have we got an open spot for the chariot deco? Or we can use one of Noa's captive books *off to check cover

message 1746: by ~~~N~~~ (new)

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments Ashley wrote: "~~~N~~~ wrote: "Fire Touched (from chariot decos) had a giant volcano wolf on it."
~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments @Noa: I recommend Mistborn as your next Sanderson read. Or Warbreaker :) "

I think I'll start off Wheelathon with Mistborn.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I hope you enjoy it Noa. Have you tried a Robin Hobb?

message 1749: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments I'm sure we have something else that can be used for decoration! Maybe something less dark Kathleen??

Okay so when Ange finishes her book for Event 5 and it's been entered the bonus events will be opened.

Until then the books we are reading will count for Wheelathon which starts very soon!

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments use my kiss of deception from the bonus rounds for the animal as there is a horse on the cover and leave fire touched in chariot decorations if you like
