I saw you ladies over at SFRC and 2016 Goodreads Olympics.

Aren't we getting too addicted to these challenges? lol. Oh well what's another one!"

I think so!! I am learning to participate in challenges and I think I am being over-enthu! Should curb myself from temptation.

Ashley | 1439 comments Hi Elspeth - sorry but your horse cover book for Event 5 doesn't meet the page requirements. The minimum page count is 100. Can you read another book with a large animal on the cover?

Ohh, thanks, Kathleen! Yummy!

My son got me into chasing Pokemons now :)))))
I just have to start listening to audiobooks I guess, not that this Pokemon frenzy lasts for very long but it's fun!

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments @skandia my partner and I spent nearly half an hour on the way home from shopping driving around to all the lures chasing pokemon. LOL

edit: even funnier is that there is people everywhere round our area tonight walking around with phones in their hand chasing pokemon :-P

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I had to google what you ladies were talking about! But it does sound something that one could easily get into.

Rebecca (rebeccaemma) | 85 comments Finished Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children but don't think it fits anywhere. I will be finished with Never Never and The White Elephant by tomorrow.
Also, it doesn't look like my reading Hold Still counted towards anything?

message 1614: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccaemma) | 85 comments Also, my colleagues at work are Pokémon crazy!! Haha. It's so funny seeing professionals trying to catch little creatures.

message 1615: by Ange (new)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Gotta catch em all! So obsessed, we have a poke stop at work which has constant lures on it so we have people shouting out "there is an Evie in the office" all day and about 7 people grab there phones, the director is also involved so catching Pokemon at work is totally allowed. Going out with my son today to go a-hunting

That's awesome. I didn't really get into it, but I think at one point in the past and maybe at some point in the future I would have liked it.

This book was so poorly written. I liked the storyline a lot...but the execution just sucked. Like questions need question marks.

Gillian Murrell | 497 comments I'm reading Raze now

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments It's taking me forever to finish Sorcerer to the Crown too. I'll try today or tomorrow.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Someone shelved The Goldfinch as YA. I mean... seriously???

Skandia, saw your shelf for it... let's read it sometime. Just. Sometime. It was BOM few months ago but I was on the road and my copy is hardcover, weighs some xx kilos so no way was I going to lug it around. Gillian, saw you've read it already.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments @Skandia: So I browsed your help-me-decide shelf and I highly recommend The Golem and the Jinni. I'd like to say more but it's more of a spoiler so I'll just wait til you've read it.

message 1630: by Skandia (new)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments Kathleen, I'm in tackling The Goldfinch and doing a BR in near future. It's a chunky one but definitely not YA.
I've heard a lot of mixed reviews and been eyeing it for some time now.

message 1631: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments I've finished the audiobook: So You Want to Start a Brewery?: The Lagunitas Story on 17 July

Most popular edition: Paperback - 224 pages.

Task: Tool on cover (AXE)

So You Want to Start a Brewery? The Lagunitas Story by Tony Magee

I do not know what to start next. What would be useful??

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Hi Kimberly! We're in need of a coach book or any book to fill in for page jumping bonus round.

message 1633: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments Would any of these help for page jumping?

The Dinner : 292 pages
Ruthless People: 342 pages
Crash into You: 474 pages

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I will try my best to finish my chariot book tonight! Sorry ladies, the pace is just soooo soooo slow and the MC so boring I cannot bring myself to read more than 2 chapters a day.

I think there are a lot of 3 star reviews because everyone got lost in the 700+ page story. Let's see where we stand after we read it. I have got The Luminaries too. And S. by JJ Abrams. I think the BOM questions will be very helpful in getting us through.

I can. Do you need me to?

message 1638: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments I've been scouring my books for another coach book - but I don't think I have one.

I bought Real just for this challenge. :)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Only if you want to Kimberly. :D But yes please, would be great if you read both. :)

Thank you for taking one for the team! Lol speaking of things we do for this challenge... I almost signed up for Kindle Unlimited. Almost. Phew! If only I had access to a good library too.

message 1640: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments Ok. Count me in for both. I'll start Ruthless People first because it's shorter.

Thanks for helping me - again!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Happy reading Kimberly!

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments Speaking of daunting books - I have London by Edward Rutherfurd ready to start and I love Edward Rutherfurd's books, but it's over 1000 pages - just too much of commitment for me at the moment.

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments Read: In Allegiance by Kate Islay
kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Good evening :) Aside from reading what's keeping you busy ladies?
Or that should be aside from reading and searching for pokemons ;)
There's this video I saw somewhere just today where people were clamoring somewhere in Central Park because a rare Pokemon came out. I don't understand what that meant but it was funny to watch.
The only 1000+ paged books in my TBR are The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive, #1) by Brandon Sanderson , Words of Radiance (The Stormlight Archive, #2) by Brandon Sanderson , Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke and 2 classics. We shall read them eventually. Story of our lives after all ;)
~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments I have a book that like 5 people have suggested to me and I really want to read it, even though it's 1427 pages. The only issue is that there are two versions (one old and one re-published) and I can't decide which to read.

message 1650: by ~~~N~~~ (last edited Jul 17, 2016 04:21AM) (new)

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments And I have quite a few that are 900+ pages. A couple classics, but mostly gay romances.
Back in January I started a book that had been mistakenly listed as 200+ pages, but it turned out to be 900 pages (I checked a seller and updated the info). I found it really funny, because quite reviewers talked about the how strangely long it seemed, and a few even said no way it was 200 pages. Yet no one changed it.
