I put you down for person head to toe with Crash Into You. When Gillian claims a spot then you can claim more spots if you want to read for more chariot tasks.

We could fill this thread with gifs and images.

Pages: 341
Task: Event 3-Arm on Cover
Weekend's almost here!

I can do CAPS LOCK and BOLD though! Are you on school break now?"
Yes, I am. Though I'm taking two summer courses.

I have. I read book two as well, but never got around to book three. What did you think?

I loved loved loved Fangirl and since reading it, I've been interested in Carry On but slightly put off because of HP fanfic theme.

There's some takings from HP, true, but it's not overwhelming. You don't need to be a HP fan, or a fan of fanfic to enjoy it. I did liked it, but it does have that slightly melancholic and realistic feel I get from Rainbow Rowell. I enjoy the ending and I find the story more successful than another book I feel the need to compare it to; The Rest of Us Just Live Here.

This book works perfectly for Event 5 (Build a Chariot) A Person (Head to Toe)..."

I've only read Eleanor and Park and maybe because it was YA contemp, I didn't enjoy it as much as I expected. Also, Park didn't feel Korean and the way Rowell inserted the martial arts thing felt like stereotyping. Her depiction of the Korean teenager was off. Sorry, it's jusr that I got lots of Korean (and Korean American) friends and they're not like that at all, even the most traditional ones. So I found her characters a bit unreal.
I agree with Noa though, her book has got a melancholic feeling. Not as overwhelming as John Green's so I think she was better than Green. Lol I think of Green's books as almost verging on depressing. I am biased though as am not a fan. Also, I think his plotlines almost sound the same.

Interesting thoughts on Eleanor and Park Kathleen! I don't know any Korean people so I didn't have anyone to base the character off of (maybe RR didn't either!?).

I feel the EXACT same about John Green. I even gave up on The Fault in Our Stars.
I agree that Park didn't feel very Korean, but I figured it was a case of the apple fell far from the tree and assimilation (despite the fact such a big point was made about the mother). (Random fact: a high school I went to for two years had more than 75% Korean students.) And I get why it bothers you. Sometimes an author gets something wrong and you just can't get over it.
At this point I generally avoid YA Contemporary when possible (Eleanor and Park was a book I had to read for a real book club).

I avoid YA contemp too as it seems like no matter how good they say it is, I am the odd one out. I read John Green and quite liked it. But when I watched the movie I questioned my own taste and can't believe I liked the book. Lol. I have enjoyed a few YA contemps I have bravely ventured to reading- thanks to reading challenges (and my cousin for lending me books)- so yeah just a matter of reading preferences.
I avoid NA too. It just disfigures my eyebrows from constant raising ;)
I'm a moody reader though so who knows 10 years from now I'll be singing a different tune *shrug*

I read Telephone by Rainbow Rowell a few months ago and really enjoyed it!
I've read a few John Green books (Fault in our Stars, Looking for Alaska, Paper Towns) and I can't say I loved them. I feel like the odd one out in that respect though.

I haven't read TFIOS ( though have seen the movie) as it has never really appealed to me as a read but I did love Looking for Alaska when I read it last year.
Whilst I like reading YA, I refer to stick to YA fantasy or YA urban fantasy rather than the YA contemporary as a general rule though I lately I have been more drawn to adult paranormal and fantasy.
With that I am off to continue reading

All arm tasks are being read for already, but am sure we can use The Price of Salt for another task :) Pleanty of tasks to go around. We're trying to complete necessary rounds and try to unlock bonus rounds if we can.
Landline is one of Rowell's adult books I think? That and Attachment?

I think NA is still figuring itself out. Some I think is good, and then some of it--which is sadly most of it--is painful to read.
A lot of genres have evolved immensely in our lifetimes. While I used to love YA, a lot of the new publications bother me.

I am enjoying the Chicago land series and its also been useful for our challenges as well as easy to access at the library so I see o reason to stop reading them at the moment. The last one wild things wasn't as s good as the previous but I like where the story is going so I continue to read :-)

The girl from 13 Reasons was probably one of the most selfish narrators I've ever read. And the guy, the one who goes through all her tapes, she... tortured him basically. That book made me mad.

loved Fangirl.
Rainbow Rowell is very good author, John Green - not for me at all.
YA contemporary is usually to angsty for me but there are some gems. I can add Flat-Out Love to the pile of great YA contemporaries.

@Noa: I think it was It's Kind of a Funny Story or something like that.

I haven't read Fantasy for a long time and really itching to pick up

Also, I have a library book on hold I need to get and read ASAP - The Girl on the Train. So that can be used for Event 2 I think or where ever it fits.
