Gillian Murrell | 497 comments I will either have Foal's Bread finished tonight or tomorrow for F6 but it will be in time for the end of battleships. I'm going to do a quick audio while I'm at work tomorrow as well. I see someone else is reading Anne of Green Gables so there is no point in me reading it as well.

Ash, where do we stand on books that need 1 more reader for us to claim points: A9, B2, F6?"

Just J-10 - read a book where title has 4 words (all words count)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Karishma, isn't that book 1 in a 10-book series?

I got my paperwhite 2 years ago and it's one of the best buys I've ever had!

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments As promised, here is my Completion Post for Faking Normal.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments B1! Yey. I think we just completed B1 with this post?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I should've Goodreads search first lol. I was thinking of Robert Jordan's series which is called Eye of the something.

message 858: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments The book I just read is B-1... Is that what you mean?

message 859: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments Does anyone know how many hours I have to finish NYPD Red 2?

message 860: by Skandia (new)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments Karishma, I like JLA books, so I added The Problem with Forever to my TBR. Thanks for the rec!

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments Like Kathleen, I sworn off reading Karin Slaughter books after Pretty Girls. I rarely give one star rating but this book was truly disgusting for me. Explicit and extreme violence was too much for my taste to bear.

Title: The Mask of Ra (Amerotke, #1) by Paul Doherty

Please don't forget to add the book to your wobble shelf :)

Timers for end of battleship and start of Olympics can be found on page 1 msge 5.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Who's planning on joining in this month's BOM?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Karishma wrote: "Done Kathleen .

And I'm sorry to repeat but could you check my post about an impartial witness again.

I checked the spreadsheet again , its not marked up for any task though it fits A9"

I think Ashley marked it open so she can move things around for tomorrow to see which books fit for tasks that can give us better points.

It's Looking for Alaska by John Green and At the Water's Edge by Sara Gruen. I have no intention of joining, just want to hear maybe a different perspective on At the Water's Edge. I enjoyed Water for Elephants but I dragged myself through At the Water's Edge.

:) It's going to be...

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments I consider reading At the Water's Edge in July.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Skandia wrote: "I consider reading At the Water's Edge in July."

I look forward to hearing your thoughts Skandia! Oh, and you can start arranging your TBR now. Rules for Olympics is up. Link is above.

message 870: by Skandia (new)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments Olympics book relay. Auch. Very tricky.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments @Karishma: Can you please set date started and date finished for Eye of the Needle so spreadsheet can pick it up. Thank you Karishma! You're on a roll! :D

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments It really is! Olympics, based on the rules, will involve a lot of planning. I think it will also involve willingness to read books outside our usual genre. Haha tough one. Our mods are so creative!

message 873: by Skandia (new)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments Do we need to finish the books in relay chain also in order or it doesn't matter as long as we start on July 1st?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Check Event 3... I think we could prolly start with event 3 while doing event 1 because we need to complete all Heats 1-4 in Event 3 to unlock the other Event Heats.

Olympics rules allow 1 reader to read all books for event heat 1 and 2 as long as other members are also reading for Olympics.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments No need Skandia.

▲ Books do NOT need to be read in order, but you only get points for books in order.
For example, If you are trying to read a 5 book relay of: Another Day / Day After Night / Night Heat / Heat it Up / Up Up Up and you do not read "Night Heat" by the end of the Olympics round (July 21st) then your team will only receive 10 points for the first 2 books read, and no points for reading Heat it Up or Up Up Up, and nothing for the 7 book relay.

message 876: by Skandia (new)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments ▲ Teams may begin to work on Event 3: Discus anytime after Heat 1 of Event 1: Title Relay is √ COMPLETE

So the first title chain must be completed before moving on to any other event? Darn, this is one complicated challenge :))

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments We need books with arms in them! Haha I know for sure a lot of romance books have got them!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments We need to finish 8 books for Event 1 in order to unlock Event 2. When we unlock Event 2, we can work on both Events 2 and 3 at the same time.

I made a sample list. Haha peruse with caution.

Or maybe we set up a spreadsheet for Olympics too where everybody has access? Will it make it easier for book suggestions?

message 879: by Skandia (new)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments GIRL is a pretty easy word to make a chain ...
Can we use plurals also or does the word have to be exact match?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I'm torn! I'm excited but logic is asking me how am I going to manage work and challenge? Lol. I find I love my challenges too much!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Ok. Can I have your email addresses? Will set up spreadsheet

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Karishma wrote: "Sorry Kathleen but isn't it 15 books for Event 1 , Heat 1?"

Pfft yes 15! I blame lack of sleep and the lateness of the night lol. I just added legs 1 and 2 of heat 1. It's almost midnight here and I should be in bed already. I missed browsing Goodreads on my laptop so...

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Skandia wrote: "GIRL is a pretty easy word to make a chain ...

That and some other generic words. Hey if we're having a hard time we could always take a peek in other teams' relay lol! Ooops cheating?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Shared spreadsheet.

I'm already sleepy so I didn't continue drafting a 'sample list'. You gals go ahead and add more books and stuff.

Bed calls! I think I'm going to read Rebel of the Sands as my last book for Battleship.

message 886: by Ange (new)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Finished Away

Can be used for A3 romance which only has one other person read for - 10 people shelved as romance - alternatively science fiction or young adult

Off to read all your comments and Olympics rules yay

message 887: by Ange (new)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Hey Karishma, you guys were busy last night, what time is it where you are, nearly 7am here. Gotta get ready to go to work but would rather hang out on Goodreads haha

message 888: by Ange (new)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Nice! I can read Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. Another option for number 3 is You Against Me but that book is 400+ and as Im not the fastest reader I would prefer to keep the books I read around 200-300 that way I can contribute more.

I believe it will be helpful if we all can do that , because this event is going to need planning.

The Waiting Room - 304 ..."

Make sure you look over the requirements the arm. They're fairly strict.

"For ARM: A full arm MUST be visible. You MUST be able to see full hand (no hands in pocket or tucked under a shirt) and most of the fingers (more than 3) need to be visible."

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

There's some examples in there too.

message 892: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments I haven't read the rules yet. But I have quite a few books with a full arm on them (using the three+ finger criteria).

I think that's what I should focus on? The relay seems too tricky to me.

Will that be ok?

message 893: by Ange (new)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments I think everyone in the team needs to read at least one book for the relay Kimberley

message 894: by Ange (new)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Also I dont think we can start reading books for the next event before we finish the first two heats of the relay

message 895: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Karishma wrote: "Is there any one you thought doesn't match?"

I didn't look through them super closely, but there were supposed to be 3 full fingers so some might require very close looks with the folds of the dress.

I'm checking on clothing, we'll get the rules updated either way with regards to that.

message 896: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments Ok. We'll need to do some serious planning then! I'll read the rules today.

I'll finish NYPD Red 2 before the deadline and will add it's details when I'm home tonight. I'm pretty sure it can be used for mystery, if nothing else.

Couldn't use for the four word title as you've already read for the first task. Fits perfectly for B-1 - read a book shelved as mystery by at least 10 people :)
