RED are sunk ships. We sunk 1 submarine and 1 minesweeper.
Black X = MISS
Black O = HITS

Blue X = perceived MISS
Blue O = we're hoping they're HITS!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments No worries. What time is it your side of town?

Viji | 389 comments My Guess is I8. If any other guess is favored by the group I am ready to change this. Thanks.

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Is this our last lot of choosing or do we get one more before it ends?

message 659: by Ange (last edited Jun 26, 2016 12:11PM) (new)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments I think there is an error with Dee's books.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments This is our last round of picking Ange :) To be counted for points, we have to finish our books before July 1 (challenge time).

message 661: by Gillian (new)

Gillian Murrell | 497 comments We will need to make sure we can get 2 reads done on each task or we won't get any points so its going to take a bit of organising if I understand it right.

message 662: by kat (wanderfulbooks) (last edited Jun 26, 2016 03:35PM) (new)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments You're correct Gillian.

message 663: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments I've finished FAHRENHEIT 451 (audiobook)
Most popular edition: paperback: 248 pages

Covers a few goals: sci-fi, classics, mystery

I don't get the hype about this book. It is short, but I found it to be a slog to get through...

I only have one book downloaded at the moment THE LAST TOWN by Blake Crouch. I'm pretty sure it's categorised as YA. I'm hoping it fits somewhere. I'll start it today. If it doesn't fit, I'll switch to something else tonight.

message 664: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments FAHRENHEIT 451 can also be used for fantasy (I don't know why I said mystery...)

message 665: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments THE LAST TOWN is categorised Sci-Fi

message 666: by Ange (last edited Jun 26, 2016 03:39PM) (new)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Talking strategy, I think we should only focus on the hits and misses that we have already read one book for to maximise our points. So no starting books for misses that still have two books to read.

message 667: by kat (wanderfulbooks) (last edited Jun 26, 2016 03:50PM) (new)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Yes, I agree. We have, however, several miss tasks still needing 1 more book for us to claim points. Unless Ashley shuffles them around. We do have 4 more days and I'm positive we can fill them before July 1st so hopefully we don't resort to that :)

We cannot carry over books to the next challenge which is Olympics. But in the 3rd challenge, Wheelathon, unused books from previous challenges can be used.

message 668: by ~~~N~~~ (new)

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments My guess is A3 (unless someone thinks it's bad, then please tell me).
Ashley, I think you can take C9 off the tasks list. I already read that book.
message 669: by ~~~N~~~ (new)
~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments Are we allowed to move around books that have already been used? Or is there a rule against that?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Hi Noa. Yes, C9 has been crossed off in the spreadsheet. Regarding moving around books, at the start of Battleship, mods say it wasn't allowed. Lol but there have been several changes during battleship so maybe they'll allow us close to closing. #herestohoping lol

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments sigh. It's Monday. *drawn sigh again*

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments I am pretty sure we aren't able to shuffle around challenge books once they have been entered in the spreadsheet and assigned a goal. I am sure I read that rule some where in my travels :-/

message 673: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments So should I stop reading The Last Town?

I'm not sure what's required. I feel so needy. I hope I'm not too much of a drain on you guys.

Our modem is supposed to arrive today. If so, I'll return to the world of the connected. :)

message 674: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments description

1. ▲ Because of the nature of Olympic Games ABSOLUTELY NO unfinished books from during Battleship will be accepted. All books for Olympic Games must be STARTED on or after July 2nd (start date subject to change, start times equal that of Wobble event start ~ 11am London time)

2. Unfortunately Dee has left the challenge. We have asked if we are able to have a replacement player - not sure if we will as all reserves had been assigned at the beginning.

No need to stop Kimberly. Am sure we can use it for fantasy or scifi. We have new tasks coming up today too.

message 677: by Ange (new)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Thats a shame about Dee (my fellow kiwi!). Hopefully we can get a new member.

Im excited about started Olympics, but committed to Battleships, will try to finish another three books before it ends.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Speaking of kiwi, i love that fruit. Too bad they're expensive here in the Philippines. Peaches too! Good thing mangoes are not so it makes up for it (at least!)

message 679: by Gillian (new)

Gillian Murrell | 497 comments How does Olympics work i know there is an explanation somewhere i just can't find it :(?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I'm reading Life of Pi. I should've read it for the pre-challenge! The book enumerated the whole contents of a zoo and some more wild land animals. It's a zootopia!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments A preview of how it works can be found under the folder All About Wobble in the main group threads. Specific rules, I guess, will be posted a few days before official start :)

Information hasn't been released yet - we'll link when it's available to all.

As Dee has left can you give me a pick for Battleship?

Great work!

I've used the Wise Man's Fear for; E-7 - read a book shelved as science fiction by at least 10 people and Frederica for; B-8 - read a book shelved as historical by at least 10 people

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Wise Man's Fear is sci-fi? What do you think of the series btw Karishma?

(view spoiler)

Ashley | 1439 comments Kathleen wrote: "Hi Noa. Yes, C9 has been crossed off in the spreadsheet. Regarding moving around books, at the start of Battleship, mods say it wasn't allowed. Lol but there have been several changes during battle..."

We won't need to move things anyway :)

All of our hits have the two tasks completed except for one (sci fi) and there are four people reading towards it.

We have back ups reading for misses A-9 - read a book where the first word of the title is An and B-2 - read a book which has the main location (setting) as Canada.

Two misses don't have back ups. F-6 - read a book where all word in title have same number of letters (example: Gone Girl) is being done by Gillian and H-8 - read a book with a title between 16 and 25 characters is Rebecca. (We will hold books that fit until they are completed).

E-8 - read a book that is book 6, 7, 8 or 9 in a series has Noa and Nikk reading towards it. It will be entered to the spreadsheet when both of them have completed it.

Smooth sailing ladies!!

70 people think it is :)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Just like Nikk's previous book where several (ok quite a lot) people shelved it as young adult. It was far far from being YA. It's quite entertaining reading name shelves sometimes. I admite them people who come up with creative names!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Ill take back up for H8. And with that am off. Talk to you all tonight! :D

message 689: by Ange (new)

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments I love Kiwis too Kat, my son eats them like apples, skin and all, that the gold ones though not the furry brown ones.

Thanks for the update Ashley, looks like we have it all under control :)

message 690: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1439 comments Haha that's how I used to eat them Ange...the green furry ones too!

The funniest shelves I've found are for romance novels that haven't had a lot of reads - then you see what each person has shelved it as

I'm reading The Girl with All the Gifts which fits D-3, F-5, G-2/G-5, C-1/D-7, or E-7. Sorry if those are already done. My parents have been visiting from Canada so I've been pretty busy and having a hard time following the thread but they're leaving tomorrow so I'll have more time then!
