Could be either as long as it was shelved as historical by at least 10 people.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments @Karishma: I highly recommend Mistborn! I loved it a lot more than Name of the Wind.

@Ange: Right? Dholes are at 300+ that they're leaving us all in the dust. lol. My competitive streak is being awakened ;)

Ships sunk:
Battleships: 0
Cruisers: 0
Frigates: 0
Minesweepers:1
Subs:1

So I've gone over the rules and stuff a bit (yey free weekend!)
The ones in blue are just my guess. I placed Xs around D3, F5 and G5 because it has sunk and whole ships don't touch horizontally or vertically. We still have 4 submarines and 2 minesweepers included in the ships we need to sink so it's pretty challenging because they only occupy 1 or 2 boxes.

Maybe we can strategize? I suggest B7 and F7 because maybe they could turn out to be a battleship, cruiser or frigate? lol.

I'll update the photo as the discussion progresses. I meant strategic planning! haha

E4,H4 i think they can still be hits from what i read?
A7&8,C8,D8,F8 could all have blue crosses correct me if I'm wrong :)

Some of the teams have a lot more players than we do we don't have a hope of competing with them.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments E4 can be a submarine and H4 (+H3 can be a minesweeper) so yes they can be hits. But I thought maybe we shold go for the big guns first since we have one last round of guessing so I just crossed them. I can leave it open if majority says we do. We have 10 chips to place.

I'll blue cross A7, A8,C8,D8 :D

I agree H4 and E4 could be ships but the blue X make them look like don't pick them maybe they could be a different colour or shape ?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Ok! Will change them into pink ;)

That's shitty. Oh well.

The teams are set up based on books read per
Month, not number of players. So teams with more players had signed up as lower readers.
Unfortunately in every team challenge it happens that one team streaks ahead as people read a lot more than they usually do.
But remember this challenge is 18 weeks which is a very long time. Sprinting can't be sustained.

Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments Nothing like a bit of tough competition to up our game. Im sure they will get complacent being at the top and we will sneak up behind them. The Hare and the Tortoise :-p.

Nice work on the table Kat have we only got one lot of guesses left? In that case we should not choose random spaces but put all our guesses into sinking the ships we have found. F7 will def be a hit but we should also choose F8 and F9 in case its a battleship for more points.

Noa and Gillian you may have found it already but the wobble spreadsheet is here. I have it saved as a fav on my google toolbar and constantly refresh it.

Yup, we've got the same number of readers. They're just luckier (is this a word? lol) in picking their tiles.

Hare and Tortoise indeed. Maybe you meant G8 and H9? Because F9 is a sure miss and had been guessed :)

Yup! I think their team members really underestimated how much they read!! Mods made all the teams even based on how much we said we read per week.

Hopefully another challenge will suit us more and we can gain ground :)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments It was a good ending to the series. I thought the first half to be more focused on the romance with the action happening on the latter parts of the book. The 'war' tactics were good and the political maneuvering bit suave so all good.

The more I think of the whole series though, it was more romance than fantasy really. It wasn't overtly fantasylite and romance pretending to be fantasy like Mary Pearson's Kiss of Deception though. Haha that one in my opinion was romance pretending to be fantasy. I guessed who the prince was vs the assassin a few chpaters after so I wasn't surprised at the reveal.

It's a really good series! It has just the right mix of romance, action and fantasy! And there be great supporting characters too!

It cannot work for historical. What edition are you reading? Can you please check if they can be used for B-10 - read a book where sum of pages is odd number (use read edition)?
