Hi Justin - I don't hold out much hope. As far as I can see reviews she's done on this group have gone. Let's see what happens over the next day or so, but FYI anyone affected will have their book put back in the pool and I'll message those people to let them know.Sara

So .... this post came up in my notifications a while ago and I have been following it ever since. Maybe I have it all wrong here - but I can't actually find Danielle's books on amazon. Is it possible her account has been deleted?

Hi Sara, I just posted a comment in response to another one, but thought I would reply to you too. As you can see in that post I haven't been able to find Danielle's books on Amazon (though it is remotely possible she doesn't list them there? Or that maybe she is looking for advanced reviews before publishing? Sorry for intruding if that is the case).
Anyway, I have been following this post with interest because of all of zons restrictions when it comes to reviews (though I have never heard of unverified reviews being rejected - that is how lots of authors do ARC copies. It crossed my mind it could be because she didn't read or purchase the book and possibly amazon has made changes to stop that though I find this hard to believe).
My concern, and the reason I am following this, is because amazon has been known to delete accounts of authors doing direct review swaps - though that is just hearsay as I don't know anyone it has happened to personally.
But it is a very scary possibility in this case which is why I am following this. If she has had her account deleted I am wondering if it is possible that Amazon will flag people linked to her.
There is a lot of hysteria out there when it comes to this and it is hard to separate fiction from fact
I don't think they delete your entire account for review swaps, they just delete the review unless they notice a trend. I did receive a warning from Amazon that they WOULD delete my entire account when someone obviously related to me who knows my pen name left me a review. This person has the EXACT same initials as me and our Amazon names display almost the same on his account and my personal account. I THINK they thought I was reviewing my own book under my personal account. I did reply to that email that it was not me, but a family member and they would not post anymore reviews. Amazon seemed to believe me and I haven't gotten anymore warnings from them, but my friends and family also do not know my pen name aside from a few people

I've never done review swaps (haven't even finished my book) but I am glad I've been researching all of this stuff in the meantime. I am learning a lot.
Do you know if her account has been deleted? Like I said - I couldn't find her books on amazon which is what got me worried in the first place as I am helping a friend promote her book and don't want to do anything dodgy that might risk her losing her account
I have no idea. They normally send an email when they do or in my case a warning first if they think you are trying to manipulate reviews some how. Amazon is really weird about what they consider violating their TOS and what doesn't. Like, my relative leaving a review was enough to get me a warning about having my account suspended, but I had an interaction on Fiverr go wrong and this seller spent *5 months* stalking my page leaving 1 star reviews claiming all sorts of things like I published 300 pages of gibberish trying to do a KU scam, I hire a ghost writer. NONE of those reviews were verified purchases, not even the book that was free. I reported them to Amazon and tried to point out they weren't verified purchases, so she didn't buy or read the book. Amazon did not consider that violating the TOS and they are all still there

This is a second part, but can be read without the first part, as the location and mystery are both new to the part. It is darker themed and without the strong romantic underpinning of the first part.
Okay - we'll either move the discussion to another thread or end it here otherwise I'll miss the real "include my books" ;-)Losing your reviews has nothing to do with whether you brought a product or not. Although Amazon are putting more emphasis on verified reviews which you only get with a purchase (not a gift) so in the long run you should work towards verified reviews. It has to do with as JB says breaking their terms and conditions, particularly friends and family.
Amazon knows if you use the same computer as someone else. Amazon knows if you use the same internet connection as someone else. Amazon knows that the woman who sends you scarves every christmas is probably a relative. Tell helpful relatives to butt out ;-) and you should be safe.
Amazon doesn't care who you are connected to on social or if you gift a book to someone they accept that these things are normal practices of promoting a book.

I have finished Simone and have found out I am also having trouble with Amazon. I have posted a review on Goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...) and Barnes and Noble (https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/simo...). I have talked to Angel about these issues and she says she accepts the Barnes and Noble review instead of Amazon. If you are also willing, please add a credit in Danielle's name for The Alistar's Hearts. Besides this possible one, she should already have a credit for my read of A Guardian Falls and I would like that credit to go up for an ARC/Beta read. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...We would appreciate reviews on multiple sites for it, but at the moment it is in Beta phase so reviews for it will be done differently, particularly since it is not yet on Amazon.
