The Decline is my debut novel, and is - basically - a zombie apocalypse novel. That said, I have been frustrated with the genre and its tendency to be "1 part story and 4 parts gore" - I wanted to write something that celebrated my love for the traditional/purist zombie fare, hopefully giving enough action for fans of the genre but devote much more time to character development and story telling that it would be accessible to a broader audience.

The Decline was my attempt at 'zombie' fiction; I wanted to appeal to the broader fans of the genre, but make it accessible to a broader audience by deviating from (what I have found to be) too much focus on violence and gore and far too little focus on character development and storytelling. I wanted to write something that focused more on the realities of survival than simple shock value. Coarse language, implied sexual content, violence... but nothing I think would be categorized as over the top.
