I read a book a few years ago that was part of a series and I cannot remember the title or author.
There is a family of children whose parents experimented on them with pharmaceuticals from their company.
The oldest daughter, whom I believe has a boys name, helps solve murders. In the book I read they were murders of prep school girls.
The oldest brother was a pro athlete who ended up in jail.
I believe there is a set of twin boys, maybe in their teens.
There is a younger sister I think also.
The kids end up being cared for by a man who was a stranger to them.

Sounds a little like Confessions of a Murder Suspect, what with it being a series, the murders being that of prep school girls, and the pharmaceutical is really what sounds familiar.
I only read the first one, so the other events might be from the rest.
