i enjoyed the first book a lot.

I just downloaded book 1. This was a cheap one for whisper sync so I'll probably take my time with it and listen at times.

Cheap is better for me. I haven't listened to any of her books on audio before sometimes the voices of the actors throw me off because it just doesn't go with what I have created in my mind.

It was a fun book though and a quick read.

I'm ready for the next book. I haven't read any of the novellas because they don't focus on the main characters and I don't got time for that.

3rd book is out in the trilogy! Hate the cover change it just doesn't even represent the books nor does it look steamy like its supposed to. Also is this New Adult like her titan series?

So its not NA like her Titan series those scenes got a bit graphic if you know what I mean. I did read the final book and ofcourse it was good but I really don't know if it was that good. :(.

First, I was pretty confused about a lot of things for example (view spoiler)[ after she comes back from the dead what is she? because when she was turning into something else like the Originals she couldn't feel the cold but after she came back from the dead she could again. also does she still see Auras and at the end when she was soaring about with Roth it didn't seem to give any hints to if she still looks the same when change or not. (hide spoiler)] am I alone with this?

So, I haven't finished Every Last Breath yet and I don't know who she picks in the love triangle but I have to say, I don't believe that she wrote any of this series not knowing who Layla is going to wind up with. The first book was all about falling for Roth and understanding that he accepts both her warden and demon side and helping her accept both of her sides. (view spoiler)[ It also seemed, to me, that even though she had feelings for Zayne in the first book she seemed pretty confident that Zayne was the infatuation of a girl and her feelings for Roth were real. Roth seemed to make her feel strong and normal. Zayne--while teaching her to fight--still wanted to protect her (Stand in front of her instead of next to her) and while in the second book he tried to overlook her demon side it still seemed as if its something that he was hung up on. Something that he was working to overcome instead of just accepting it, like Roth did. It also seemed in the second book that even while she was with Zayne and enjoying their relationship she was still hero struck alot and still spending a lot of her time missing Roth. While she had moments of "feelings" for Zayne in the first book they all but disappeared after she was with Roth. It seemed more--here's this super hot guy and she'll feel some fleeting bit of attraction--but other than acknowledging that it was there because he's gorgeous she seemed content to put it back in the friend/brother corner and keep moving on. The most she seemed to feel towards Zayne in the first book was guilt that she was lying to him. If she does pick Zayne over Roth I will be super, super shocked. (hide spoiler)]

i agree the author knew what direction she wanted to take it in and was taking a huge leap with letting readers pick because what if they didn't think the same as she does? then the books might have been ruined or something. Like if they voted for the one she wasn't set up to be with from the start.

I liked it well enough. Lux is still my favorite series by her. I'm still firmly in my armentrout phase though and plan on starting the Wicked trilogy tomorrow. There's something about her that is so readable. Chakara I have answers for you under the spoiler tag (view spoiler)[

Layla was never part demon because Lilith was never part demon. They aren't ever clear on exactly what Lilith. In book one we're told that Lilith was the first woman (and thats some common mythology) and was booted out of Eden and lost her immortality. Making her human(ish?). Then she mated with darkness and popped out a million demons making her the mother of demons and The Boss (who didn't know how to make demons) gave her the blood of Original Angel who had fallen and made her immortal again. I guess that could explain why Zayne and Roth both comment on how human Layla is. Lilith was human(ish) twice, I guess. So she had some of her mothers powers but they weren't demon powers. When Layla returned from the dead she could still see auras (she comments on how dull Zaynes is when she goes to meet him and he brings her Mr. Snotty). When she comes back from the dead she still doesn't feel the cold. When Roth goes to meet her on top of the roof of the Palisides he comments on how cold it is and she says that its not like it effects either one of them. He says, true, but he still felt like he should acknowledge it. (hide spoiler)]

i checked it out from the library and don't have it in front of me anymore. Thanks for clearing that up though its possible I read it to fast or that I was startled by the quick wrap up. i still think at one point when she goes to meat Zane (view spoiler)[ she says something like the cold air bit through her clothing (hide spoiler)] or something like that which confused the heck outta me.

Oh and I started Wicked but was immediately put off by the way she wrote the POC. She tried but IMHO it wasn't successful. Very hard to write other races, trust me I know so she's still one of my fav authors , even though I despise Damon and Katie.

You despised Daemon and Katy? But they were so cute! I guess different strokes for different folks. I'm a bit nervous to start Wicked now. But---I guess, even if she was unsuccessful in her attempt at least she tried to write a POC in a YA novel--the whole genre is so whitewashed that I guess even just a little bit helps.

Yes, i think its awesome that she tried it wasn't so much as offensive as a bit annoying . if we have a thread for it I'd like to know how it went when you finish. :)

i'm not a romance-y mushy gushy person so yeah that Katy and Daemon were the most annoying to me. I read the first 3 or 4 but it just got worst and worst for me so I stopped.
