I'm reading Bunny Tales - which is the 1st of 3 books I plan to read about the Hugh Hefner "Girlfriends" because rubber-necking, train-wreck nosiness.

I am currently reading The Word Exchange. It took me awhile, but I'm finally getting into the story; the author is doing a lot of interesting things with language and cognition.

Happy June, y'all! I recently started The Library at Mount Char. I'm enjoying it and at the same time I haven't gotten the "I can't put this down" point. It's not drawing me back in yet. Considering I've heard rave reviews, I'm guessing that this book will end up sucking me in.

I'm also continuing to listen to Cress on Audible. The Lunar Chronicles really is a good series.

Fafhrd and Grey Mouser by Fritz Leiber and The Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny.

Fafhrd and Grey Mouser is good stuff, but I have some problems with the fix-up format utilized in editions like Swords and Deviltry. The Chronicles of Amber are simply mindblowing, like a crossover between Philip K. Dick and Michael Moorcock.

I liked The Library at Mount Char, but I agree with you, Jenny, it's not exactly one that just grips you. I found it definitely picked up as I got more...oriented, I guess.

I'm reading The Midnight Watch: A Novel of the Titanic and the Californian. Not fantasy, but I have an interest in historical fiction as well.

Just finished reading. The Chronicles of Amber (at least the first two volumes) occupied the throne of "most mindblowing fantasy I've ever read" for only one week, the new champion is The Iron Dragon's Daughter.

I guess I'll continue with Swanwick's The Dragons of Babel. As far as I know, it is set in the same secondary world as The Iron Dragon's Daughter.

ah, I remember this one. It's been a couple of years since I read it, but I really liked it. Sometimes, when I do laundry, I get a flash back of that scene where she washed that flag in the washing machine, so that that one fairy wouldn't think it soiled. It's funny how sometimes little scenes or remarks or mental pictures of a book stay with you for years and other parts are just gone.

I started my June with the Dresden Files, I finished "Summer Knight" on June 2, I think, and immediately started on "Death Masks", I'm now on page 316. I'm still reading "Stormqueen" by MZB parallel to the Dresden Files, but right now I'm more interested in Harry's fate ;)

The stupid libraries here don't stack a fraction of what I want to read :( *grumbles*
(and I never expected hearing myself saying "stupid" and "library" in the same sentence ^^)

I sped through Theft of Swords - it was great! I had read the Crown Tower beforehand, but decided to start with the original series before reading the rest of the prequel.

Memories of Ice is also going well, but definitely taking a bit longer.

Blood Magickin paper back by Nora Roberts.
The final in the Cousins O'Dwyer series. Branna O'Dwyer and Finbar Burke dreamed of a life together years ago, until Sorcha, the dark witch, cursed him with the mark that signifies that Fin is a descendant from Cabhan. Branna knew they could not be together when the evil that is Cabhan continues to stalk her family. They have had to work together to destroy Cabhan even with the forbidding love they have for each other. Fin is not evil and wants nothing more than to destroy him and find a way to break the curse. Cabhan is getting more daring and bold and the three of the three know the time is near for the battle of all battles.
I was very disappointed in this last book. I got so absorbed in this series and the characters and was so worked up to the finale'. It was so drawn out with Branna and Fin's saga and the ending was nothing like I had expected or hoped for. I felt very let down at the end. It was like the author just wanted to get the series done and over with. It's really a shame, as it was such a strong and powerful story. I love Nora Roberts, and this will in no way change my thinking of reading her books. 2 stars

I just finished Sunset Over Abendau by Jo Zebedee, the second part of a grimdark sci-fi trilogy. Very well-written and emotive, oddly reminiscent of Robin Hobb in that regard.

Currently reading history, namely a biography of Alfred the Great. Alfred the Great: The Man Who Made England by Justin Pollard. Only a short way in, but enjoying it so far.

With my finals of semester approaching, I'm hoping to get some actual reading done in July. Right now, however, I'm giving Dogsbody by Diana Wynne Jones another go, as RL interrupted me the first time around.

I am reading book #2 in The Gentleman Bastard series. 'Red Seas under Red Skies' by Scott Lynch. So far so good.

I really enjoy the blunt language and the humour in the book. The first book was a little bit hard to get into, but got better and better.

Yesterday I finished The Library at Mount Char and I really enjoyed it. For those like me who are taking time to warm up to it, stick with it. About half way through I didn't want to put it down. It definitely took turns that I didn't expect.

Last night I started We Have Always Lived in the Castle and it drew me in right off the bat. It's going to be a fast read.

Any other classic horror novels that I've missed out on?

I went on a bit of a Sanderson craze and just read Steelheart and Elantris.

Steelheart was probably one of the best YA books I've read and I loved Elantris as well.

I've read them both and they are very good. Sanderson is one of my favorites and I've been trying to space his works out so I don't blow through them all. If only Oathbreaker was coming out sooner............

Yeah, I'm almost caught up with what he has written so far. Just need to read the rest of the Reckoners series and the Rithmatist series (I think I am going to skip the Evil Librarians). I can't wait for the next Stormlight Archive either.

I've been bouncing around, but I'm concentrating reading The Last Dogs series this month, currently on book 2 (Dark Waters (The Last Dogs, #2). It seems difficult to get much reading done this month; whenever I try, things happen like my cat poking me in the eye, and it still hurts over 8 hours later!

I completed Dogsbody (which I enjoyed), and am now reading Dear Heart, I Hate You. I'm only 9% in (25 pages), but there's already a warning bell ringing in the distance...will have to see if it intensifies, or if the danger passes.
