Reading Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series
I'll be a good girl and wait until next month to start the next book. Thankfully, I have a full reading schedule to distract me! And if I'm tempted to click a spoiler that is in a future book, I'll do something else instead...like grab a candy bar, or take a walk, or drink.So by next month I'll be a Fat Drunk Walking. ; )
Ah right, thanks, Sam!While I was nearing the end in this one, I figured I was starting to mix things up as there was no way the book had enough pages left for all the show-downs that were swirling around in my head.
I enjoyed rereading this one and can't wait to pick up the next book :-)
Edward was less badass in this than I remembered but this is just easing us into the world and the series after all.
I was surprised how much I had forgotten about the events of the book. It was almost like reading it for the first time again, except I enjoyed it even more because I know where certain characters' storylines are headed.Also, Edward is awesome. :)
I haven't started either! I've been in a slump and just busy this last week. And I will be the slacker because I don't think I'll be able to start until next week.
That's good too though, that way we'll have a prolonged talk about the book :-)I'm in slacking mode as well. I am reading, but I'm just taking things easy this month. It's nice!

Although I guess she was responsible for Anita meeting Jean-Claude. But I think that would have happened anyway. I bet she was on his radar for a while lol :)
Jean-Claude and Anita met before book 1 anyway, so Monica wasn't necessary. She could have done with becoming a head shorter ;-) Or whatever else Anita had in mind hehe.
I agree with you ladies, on the spoiler.I'm not going to start the book today as I have a couple of others to finish buuuut, I'll hopefully get a couple of chapters in tomorrow :-)

I think I like this book even more than book 1! The pacing seemed better, it was easier to follow and I liked getting to know a little more about Anita. I'm officially hooked! : )

LOL! I really didn't expect to blaze though the whole book. It was just that good!
Wasn't ACOMAF incredible? That series...WOW! I think Mist and Fury was better than Thrones and Roses! Maas surprised me big time! I kept thinking, What is she doing!? There is no way I'm going to get behind this, No way! Pfft.... She sold me on everything and had me wailing at the end. That isn't how it normally works for me...but this time it did. ; )
Maas truly is an artist. I adore her writing and yess!!! SUCH a good book!! And way better than the first one. She has a way with words and a way to write characters that leaves me wanting to actually meet those people and be friends with them.I had an inkling on a few things, but the ending threw me completely!!
I managed to read two pages on Friday night. And then nothing the rest of the weekend haha.So basically I started this today. It's slow going because I can't sneak in as much reading time at work as I would like (an also I'm reading an awesome crime novel on the side) but I'm slowly getting there hehe.
I should finally be able to start Book 2 tonight. Things have been crazy! Looking forward to reading a book for fun and not just because I have to review it! :)
I'm still lagging behind as well. I'm on chapter 6, I think and have been for the past two days. Hopefully I'll be able to put a bit of a dent into it today :-)I remember Dominga. Nasty piece of work - she's the kind of character that appall and fascinate me at the same time.
Join the club, Vilda, join the club. It took me a week to read a book I really enjoyed because I just didn't get the time to read. So this has been on the backburner. I did manage to read 60 pages since I started it but that was a week ago hehe.
Anyway, if not this weekend, then hopefully soon I'll manage to continue :-)
I finished my re-read of Laughing Corpse. This one was scarier than the first one. Dominga Salvador is one scary lady. She thinks that her position and her power allow her to do whatever she wants (view spoiler). And yet, somehow, Harold was even scarier for me. He thought that his money and position would allow him to do anything. I think I found this scarier, because this is something that could happen in real life. Some rich people do feel entitled to anything they want, regardless of the laws.
So I never really continued with this book *cough* A challenge got in the way where start dates counted. I'll get back to this after the 23rd at the latest.I also won't mind jumping straight into book 3 after I'm done with 2 in case you ladies are itching to continue with the series :-)
I do agree though that this one is creepier than the first. I forgot that Dominga was such a scary old lady o.O

Finished Circus today. I think the events of this book really changed the way Anita thinks and reacts to things. The thing she dreaded most in the world happened, and she survived. But after surviving, she couldn't stay the same anymore.And this was the book we meet Richard in, before he became what he is now. Nice to see him his old way.
Per my personal quest, Guilty Pleasures took place in June/July, Laughing Corpse took place in August and Circus of the Damned took place in October. If it continues at this rate, my theory might be proven correct.
Aaaalmost done with Laughing Corpse!I have to say that this one is a bit more blurry for me. I barely remembered anything from this one though I have an inkling about the ending now (I have about 70 pages left) and I'm wondering if what I'm thinking happened is actually what these last pages will bring.
After that, I'll jump straight into Circus!
Jean-Claude is so much tamer than I remembered him for some reason! Strikes me as odd o.O

Is it just me or can Anita not saying anything but "Damn you / Fuck you / Fuck off" whenever she's talking to Jean-Claude? It's starting to get a little on my nerves.
I don't mind the swearing but it's bugging me that it seems to constantly be the same.
Weeeeeell? Have you ladies started the book yet?? ;-)I'm almost at the end of this book and while Anita's language is actually bugging me a lot at times, I'm happily reading along. I can barely remember anything from this book and it's like reading something completely new, except for the fact that I know the characters.
Except for one of the major scenes with Edward. That I do remember, I just didn't remember in which book that took place. (view spoiler)
It isn't just me then, that's good. The beginnings are quite slow, interesting but not as capturing as the rest once the action starts to really get going.

Looking at it that way, you're absolutely right. But as Sam already mentioned, book 3 provides a bit of a turning point for Anita and I'm hoping that she actually did change a few things in her attitude and general way of thinking. Guess book 4 will show that..
RPIT isn't necessarily my biggest in these stories as well, especially because the expertise Anita provides isn't all thaaaat fantastic. If the cops in that squad actually did a bit of research, they could come up with all of that themselves as well. Maybe not the vamp stuff from the third book now but even Anita got that partially wrong, so... meh.

I finished the re-read of Lunatic Cafe. I had actually completely forgotten almost everything about this book. Here, we meet Raina, Gabriel and Marcus. Anita starts to question some of her beliefs. As Hamilton says in her afterword, (view spoiler). I enjoyed it again this time.Timeline- we are now up to December.
I'm going to try and pick this up end of next week.
I've been keeping up with the reading, but have not been able to get online to post my thoughts! Real life is crazy lol.Regarding Lunatic Cafe, I enjoyed my re-read. This was the first time I actually remembered what happened in the end. Despite that, a lot of the book still felt new. For example, I had completely forgotten about (view spoiler) It's been really interesting to go back to these older books and read them all while knowing how things evolve over time. Looking forward to the next one!
Are we going to move to the next book or give people more time on this one?

Yeeeees, the weekend wasn't all that productive for me either in far as reading is concerned.I have another book lined up at the moment that I need to prioritise for a challenge, but Lunatic Cafe is next up after that!! I hope haha. And then I'll move on to Bloody Bones shortly after that.
(But you know how it is with reading "plans" ;-))
