It's always nice when you can be wrong about a sequel. :D

The novellas are mostly to help me bolster my reading during the challenge. I like to have small, medium and large books planned for every challenge so that I can boost my reading when needed and enjoy some longer books as well since I'm not the fastest reader.

About 1/4 to a 1/2 of the books are from the planned BR list for June. I like to keep track of the BRs so I can join them if I find myself in the mood to read any of those particular books.

The others are a mix of books I need for other challenges and books I've bought in the past three years that I haven't had a chance to read yet. I have another back up list of close to 500 books that I can pull from if I don't like any of the 100 but I'm trying to focus on the one list for now. ^-^

I liked your review for Anne I'm gonna try to squeeze it in when I'm done with my set up BRs.

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 22764 comments The book I'm reading right now has a very arrogant macho man as the love interest and some of his quotes are making me laugh at the absurdity.

In regards to pregnancy.

“She was your woman, you are a man and it is your right to make this decision, not hers.

Adriana | 3733 comments @Bookbuyer - Wow, you are a strategist for sure. I should create a list to stick to because there are certain books I really must read already.

@Cinthia - Oh good! If you like classic children's books I think you'll like it very much. It's made me want to reread The Secret Garden which I love to pieces.

message 157: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm ashamed to say I haven't read the secret garden either. But I'd love to. I will start with Anne and see how that goes.

I make a list every month and usually just move the books I didn't read that month to the next if possible. Some of the books on my list I've owned for almost 3 years and haven't read! It's preventing me from reading some really exciting new releases this year because I haven't read the first book!!! -.-

I also re-read WAY to often some books I read every year regardless of how often I've read them in the past.

Some of my favorite books as a child were classics. I remember loving Oliver Twist, A Little Princess, Heidi, and a few others. :)

Adriana | 3733 comments @ Cinthia - I loved the movie so much that I had to read the book. I watched a YouTube adaption of Anne of Green Gables and even though the main actress is just alright the story really captured my attention but oh the secret garden adaption on youtube is beyond brilliant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eusl4...

@Bookbuyer - That sounds like a really good plan. I might decide to do something like it in the future to get me reading the right books. I absolutely love rereading books so I understand you there.

I'm a late boomer reader. Just got into the hype about 3 years ago. I hated, hated reading but now I seem to be hooked and trying to catch up. I haven't done much of the classics. Just barely last month I read pride and prejudice and did enjoy it. So I M hoping to catch up on more classics this year. That's gonna be fun.

message 163: by [deleted user] (new)

I try to read the book before I watch any movies. But the game of thrones genre ruined it for me. I will watch the adaptations once I read the books.

I was sort of a late bloomer I didn't really start reading till my tweens when my dad died. Then I got into it as a sort of escape because I was having some family issues and I've loved it since. ^-^

I'm 50/50 on books that have turned into movies or vise versa. I can either read the book or watch the movie not both. The biggest exception was the Harry Potter books and movies.

message 166: by [deleted user] (new)

Speaking of HP. I just finished the second one and can't wait to watch the movie.

The movies are fantastic! I'm a picky movie watcher and I love them!!! :D

message 168: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 3733 comments I was always reading as a kid but never as much as when I discovered Goodreads in High School. I've never read this much in my life! The movies are great for HP. I have heard though the really big fans of some inaccuracies of quotes said and of course, the books are always better than the movie. A lot of things and moments are left out but it's probably one of the greatest adaptions in my opinion. The Pride and Prejudice adaption with Knightley is wonderful too.

My computer just came off for a little while randomly....

I'm actually reading less since I joined Goodreads but I'd seen a decline in my reading a bit before that as well. It's probably because I now like to thoroughly read a book instead of sometimes skimming them and I have to write reviews now as well which takes more concentration. :)

message 170: by [deleted user] (new)

I certainly love the BRs. I like knowing that someone is reading the same thing as me and their thoughts on it. I like sharing my thoughts as well.

message 171: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 3733 comments @Bookbuyer - I don't really spend a lot of time on reviews lately. Only sometimes I write out a really full review much later than I would like. The team challenges have especially motivated me to read more. I can sometimes get competitive with them. I hope I stay that way because always towards the end my book reading practically stops which always bothers me.

@ Cinthia - Same. Sometimes though I don't read them at the same time as others so I miss seeing their thoughts or sometimes I or the other reader doesn't read that book when we are supposed to.

message 172: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah I hear you that's y I set up less BRs this month cuz I couldn't get to all of them last month so now I have like 8 set up and 3 done that I feel better less pressure. And I'm free to join all the pre set up ones which I also enjoy.

message 173: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 3733 comments I've been really good so far too. I've read three BR's too and I have a couple of ones that were pre-planned that I'll join in whenever. I have twelve in total but three of them are pre-planned so I don't have to do them if I don't want to.

message 174: by [deleted user] (new)

Ha. See that's what I like the choice of not doing them if I don't want to, but I like to have the choice.

message 175: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 3733 comments Yeah, but it's pretty nice to be able to set up a time with someone and read it together like you are in it together.

message 176: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 3733 comments I finished Has Anyone Seen Jessica Jenkins? by Liz Kessler and loved it! Super cute story. I don't know what I'll read next but I'm pretty content right now.

message 177: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 3733 comments I finished another magical read. I'm really into kid's books today. I'm going to read James and the Giant Peach next since I've wanted to read it for ages.

message 178: by [deleted user] (new)

Finished flat out love. It was good. Nice elements. I won't be Able to update in the reviews thread though until tomorrow.

message 179: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 3733 comments Cool, I might read it later on this month.

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments You've been chatty! :)
I was behind in BRs last month too, which is why I didn't set up too many this month.

message 181: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 3733 comments Haha : ~ Yeah, we have. I have a lot but I think I'll be fine about them for now.

message 182: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments That sounds good :)
I'm gonna start my day off with some cross stitching instead of reading, I think. :)

message 183: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 3733 comments Cool, I wish I could sew.

message 184: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments I haven't done it since I was, like, 12? So it's been a while haha

message 185: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 3733 comments Oh but that's such an interesting thing to do. If I could I would love to be one of those people who can sew up a dress or pants so I didn't have to go to anyone else to do it. Or add designs to my clothes if I was any bit creative :P

message 186: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments Oh I can't do that! :) I'm wishing for a sewing machine though, because I want to learn it:)

message 187: by Adriana (new)

message 194: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 22764 comments I finished my second book yesterday and posted the review today. As of right now I'm not sure what I will be picking up next. I'm considering a few. The Serpent and the Pearl (The Borgias, #1) by Kate Quinn Daughters of Rome (The Empress of Rome, #2) by Kate Quinn The Sleeping Prince (The Sin Eater’s Daughter, #2) by Melinda Salisbury Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder

I think I will. Or I might read her other series the Serpent and the Pearl. :D

message 198: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 3733 comments What's that series about?

message 199: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 22764 comments Adriana wrote: "What's that series about?"

It's set in the 15th century and it's about a powerful family and Cardinal Borgia who the MC is given to as a concubine. :)

The other series Daughters of Rome (The Empress of Rome, #2) by Kate Quinn is set in Ancient Rome and is set about 30 years before Mistress of Rome (The Empress of Rome, #1) by Kate Quinn so I'm trying to figure out the semi familiar names. :/

message 200: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 3733 comments Ohhhh! I didn't think they would be so closely related. Which series starts first - the one that is set 30 years before or Mistress of Rome?

I hope the MC gets out of the concubine.
