Okay, I've only been a member with this account since last summer, but I've added books to my shelves from before having this account."2011 and earlier" shelf: Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
Really loved this book. Also read Ape House and have decided I just like Sara Gruen.

2012: A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard
Memoir. I enjoyed it.

2013: A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks
Totally a guilty pleasure. This one made me bawl like a baby.

2014: I read nothing... I know that saying this is like, sacrilege around here.
2015: The Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling
Loved! Incredible character development.

2016: The Elephant Whisperer by Lawrence Anthony
I just finished this yesterday, and it is awesome.
Boo. I only joined in 2014 so only three books I can recommend but they are definitely three of my all time favourites.2014 -
- love, love, love this book and think it started my obsession with re tellings (although that may not be a good thing).2015 -
- Saw a recommendation for this on a blog, read it, loved it and am now spreading the word. Probably not everyone's cup of tea but it makes me smile2016 -
- Another sort of re telling, this time Jane Eyre, but very gothic and with a Jane who kills a few people along the way.
**Day 3 Recommendations**2013 -
- A classic for a reason. This dystopia kept me think about things for many months, and I still stop to reflect something about it even now and then.2014 -
- The first in the Wheel of Time series. An epic fantasy.2015 -
- A classic science fiction that is more focused on the human side of the events then in tecnological elements of it. Good for beginners to the genre.2016 -
- The whole trilogy is good.
Wow, this is really hard! Trying not to recommend overly popular titles or books I've already recommended, here goes: I only read two books in 2012, since I joined later in the year. Out of those two, my favorite was:
The Silver Linings Playbook
2013:
Graceling
2014:
Big Little Lies
2015:
Seed
2016:
Moloka'i
2011:
A Confederacy of Dunces2012:
Homeland2013:
A Game of Thrones (I know, I know... it's crazy popular, but it's honestly my favorite book that I read that year!)2014:
Ready Player One2015:
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks2016:
Ink and Bone
2011:
The Thirteenth Tale
2012:
Kindred
2013:
Dark Matter
2014:
Rules of Civility
2015:
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir
2016:
The Shrinking Man
The Thirteenth Tale2012:
Kindred2013:
Dark Matter2014:
Rules of Civility2015:
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir2016:
The Shrinking Man
Oooohh, this is my favorite so far!2009:
- University Chick-Lit. Nothing amazingly spectacular about this book, but it is the first in a three book series that I read in about a week. Quick chick-lit beach red!2010:
- Manga. My 2010 list is mostly popular books, except for this series. I know sequential art isn't everyone's cup of tea, but for those who do enjoy it this is one of my favorite series of all time. On the surface it's a typical good girl means bad boy kind of romance, but it goes a lot deeper than that and it's very well done. I've read the entire 15 book series a few times!2011:
- Sci-fi. I wanted to get this in yesterday for blue, but it wasn't 60%! So glad there's a spot for it today. I don't remember how I stumbled across this book, but it's was amazing. A 5 star read for me, very thought provoking.2012:
- PNR. I'm normally wary of self-published works because it's such a grab bag. The author released a free extended scene for this book and after reading it, I immediately purchased this. It's a very well done book and I'm hoping for more in the series in the future. 2013:
- Urban Fantasy. This wasn't one of my 5 star books for 2013, but it was a 4 star and this series just keeps getting better. 2014:
- Steampunk Romance. Book 3 in The Iron Seas series, can be read on it's own. The whole series is good, but this book blew me away. The characters were very well done and the alternate history Iceland she creates is gorgeous.2015:
- Historical Romance. 8th in the Desperate Duchesses Series, but 2nd in the spin-off series of Desperate Duchesses by the Numbers. I've read (and adored) this entire series, but only two of the 8 have gotten 5 stars from me. Can definitely be read standalone. 2016:
- Flintlock Fantasy. This was a reread for me this year so that I could finish the rest of the trilogy. Very unique military/political fantasy surrounding mages that utilize and control gunpowder.
2011:
The Tall Woman, set in Appalachia with a strong, strong female lead.2012:
The Kappillan of Malta. Sort of dual story line showing the devastation of Malta during World War II and the poor who have moved into the catacombs to escape the bombings are uplifted by a priest who tells stories of what their ancestors on Malta have survived.2013:
Angel's Rest, set in 1960s Virginia, Charlie's mother is on trial for killing his father and entrusts him to the care of an elderly black man.2014:
Alas, Babylon, my all-time favorite post-apocalyptic. What if the Cold War had gone hot? Could people have survived?2015:
Hitty, Her First Hundred Years, Newbery winner from the 30s has a wooden doll as protagonist.2016:
Voices from Chernobyl: The Oral History of a Nuclear Disaster - I'll be talking about this one for years. Incredible stories. This author is the first non-fiction writer to win the Nobel in over 50 years and it is well-deserved.
By Year:2011:
- Nonfiction2012:
- YA Fairytale2013:
- Fantasy/Action/Paranormal2014:
- Sci-fi2015:
- Fantasy2016:
- Historical Fiction

**Day 3 Recommendations**
YES there are specific requirements to recommendations, not just any.
Today is SORTA anything goes.
Today, for however long you've been here on GoodReads, recommend ONE book per year, that you marked as READ in that year.
Example: You've been a member of GoodReads since 2010. You recommend one book marked read in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013..... You get the idea. If you did not mark a book read in any year, then you may skip that year.
To search by year: Click My Books then your Read shelf. At the bottom sort by "Date Read" and once loaded you can click "Asc" to make it sort from oldest to newest.
Recommendations FAQ -
Through this read-a-thon, we're going to recommend books in the hopes of putting a ton more books on our TBR! With recommendations ~
╰⊰✿ Try to recommend something not extremely popular (no Harry Potter!) We want to get new books and with extremely big series/books, people already know about them. Give us something new to want!
╰⊰✿ REMEMBER: Our group is an ALL AGES group. Please no recommendations of a mature nature. Gore and violence is ok (it's in Hunger Games after all) but nothing too over the top and no erotica please.
