My great grandma used to read this book to me and I've been trying to find it for ages. Beautiful illustration, about a mouse trying to find a home on a farm I believe, I believe the cover is a light yellow. I know that in the end the mouse finds a home in a jacket pocket.

Sylvester's displaced from his home by developers and finds a new home in a guitar, and ends up living with a cowboy called Tex who buys the guitar. I don't remember if he was ever in his jacket pocket though!
