Pregnancy??

I've seen talk of this floating around on the discussion boards and around tumblr but it's been nagging at me so much since I finished the book a few weeks ago, I thought it deserved it's own topic.

I don't think SJM brought the possibility of pregnancy up between Rhys and Feyre for no reason. Every little detail she puts in her books has a purpose and I don' think this is any different. But my brain is over flowing with ideas on how it could be important.

We never actually read about Feyre talking the contraceptive. That might have been deliberate or SJM just might have not thought it was important enough to mention. But it still makes me wonder what that means and if it'll come into play in the next book or if pregnancy and heirs and contraceptives will be apart of the next book.

Did Feyre just forget to take it because of everything that happened after her and Rhys mated? Is it possible that she could be pregnant if she didn't take it? And if she was, how could she keep that from Tamlin in Spring Court? Couldn't he smell it on her or something? How would SHE feel if she was pregnant? How would RHYS feel? God. I feel like Rhys would go fucking crazy. He mentioned in the ACOMAF just how terrified he was of what he might do if his mate was pregnant during a war. And I feel like he wouldn't give a shit about tearing apart the Spring Court from the inside out and go get her IMMEDIATELY. But then again, how would he know? I still don't know if the new bond they have allows them to communicate like they did with the first bond. Could she tell him that way? Would she tell him or keep it from him to keep from going nuts and ruining whatever she's doing in the Spring Court? I hate that thought of her keeping it from him. It would be so stupid on her part.

But I still don't even know if this theory is a possibility. She could not be and my head is just running away with me. I mean, don't get me wrong, I WANT Feysand babies, like a lot. But is a pregnancy and a child being born in the middle of a damn war possible to finish in one book? How would it play into the plot?

And if she's not pregnant, is Tamlin is going to try and get heirs from her? (The thought literally makes me sick.) Ianthe seems to have a sick obsession with getting powerful heirs. Will she try to convince Tamlin to make one with Feyre? And how will she avoid that? If she has to have sex with him - god forbid - how will she keep from him that she's taking a contraceptive? And if she is pregnant with Rhys' baby and he finds out, what the hell will he do? Will he try and get rid of it like the bastard I think he is? WILL HE TELL THE FUCKING KING?

Ah!! My head is too full of ideas. Someone please either telling me I'm bat shit crazy for even having them or tell me this makes perfect sense to you like it does me.

Now that you put it out there, it doesn't seem to crazy. The way ACOMAF ended, we are left with 'what the hell is going to happen'. Everything you mentioned about the pregnancy, Rhysand, and Tamlin I wouldn't mind one bit if that's the direction SJM went with. But you are right, how can you put this major event into the plot with everything else that is going on. We'll see what SJM has up her sleeve!!

If Feyre is pregnant then Rhys will MURDER tamlin... And i will praise the Lord God Almighty.....

I had a thought about the Bone Carver scene. Feyre sees the little boy who looks so much like Rhys - dark hair, violet eyes. When I did a re-read, I thought she's seeing Rhys as a kid or she's maybe seeing their kid together. But after she tells Rhys what she saw he 'shudders' and she notes that it's the most human gesture she's seen him make. Then at the end of the section after she learns Rhys saw Jurian, she muses "I didn't want to learn how the Bone Carver knew who we'd come to ask about." The thing is... they didn't really ask about Jurian, they asked "Would there be a way to resurrect that person?" (if there was no body but a bit of bone). pg. 198 I think this is also the answer for either their future kid or maybe even Rhys himself.

I kind of want a little Feysand baby as Rhys would go all out to protect them and I think Feyre would unleash her full power so no harm came to it/he/she (little Feysand). You would then also have the whole of the court of dreams protecting them, so she would get back to her court quicker so less time that Feyre and Rhys being apart which is another pro. Rhysand would love that baby and there would be no stopping him so it could make a very interesting book as the king would probably go for Feyre if he found out. I feel SJM has one hell of a plan for this next book.

A YEAR I HAVE TO WAIT A YEAR!!!

I want Feysand babies too, but not yet. I think it was brought up because 1) it's a realistic conversation to have with your partner and 2) to show us that Feyre is given a choice in the matter more so than she was with Tamlin and 3) to inform the reader that Feyre isn't ready for kids. She wants to have Rhys to herself first. :P

Granted, I know that doesn't mean anything. It's realistic for people to get pregnant before they're ready. But from a narrator perspective, it would be very challenging for Feyre to save the world, be a spy, and have new mom/child arc all at the same time. That's a lot going on. I'm hoping this won' be the final book.

Regardless, I think eventually we'll get an epilogue that shows them as parents.

Just going to mention that Feyre and Rhysand didn't establish a new bond. It was still the mating bond, what the King cut was the bargaining bond, not the mating bond. No new bond was established.
