Even though I didn't care for them I was happy that Roque stuck to his beliefs until the end. Him killing himself was kind of drawnout. The whole end battle with the drill attacks was pretty awesome.
Two parts made me laugh in this section. The first was Sefi with the volume control and the second was Victra's "I won't" after Roque tells them to remember him fondly. Really glad I did this series in audio.

Yeah, Roque was a piece of shit. I think we were supposed to feel sympathy for him, but I stopped caring for him when he betrayed Darrow. If I feel any sympathy over his death, it's towards Darrow and his sense of loss.
Roque blames Darrow for the death of their friends, like it was all Darrow's fault and it wasn't. Darrow was partially to blame, but not totally. And he does far worse than Darrow by betraying his supposed friends on purpose.
Then he hides behind his honor, but really he's just a racist. What did his honor cost him? Very little, but it cost many "lesser" colors their lives. For no good reason. I can't say I'm surprised though.
I wasn't surprised by his drawn out suicide either. Spouting his poetry like he's some noble creature. He was delusional, sad and alone. Good riddance. I'm glad Darrow didn't take him alive like he did with Cassius. I feel like Cassius could yet be redeemed.

Yeah those were both great. The audio books have been phenomenal as I knew they would be. It was one of the main draws for me originally.
The final part of this section is brutal. I hope that it works. He sacrificed a lot of people by blowing up the docks, mostly his own. Too many people know the truth. I feel like it will have to get out, and bite him later. Good on Victra for taking on some of the burden/blame with him though.
I had to force myself to stop here because I have a feeling once I start the final section, I won't want to stop. Sadly I probably won't have enough time to finish tomorrow though.

How come you didn't divide the parts after the parts in the book? I clicked on this after reading part three and was spoiled of Roques death. My fault for not checking the chapters of course.
I agree about his death being drawn out. It feels very silly when I picture it in my head. Him just standing there making long proclamations. And then trying to be like "no hard feelings" to Victra. He fucking asked to be the one to deliver Fitchners head to Darrow. And then he tries to pretend like it wasn't personal.
Also who else caught his "etu Brutus" reference? It made me laugh.
I did the books in audio, so the parts of the book weren't obvious when I did the splits. Sorry you got spoiled.
