I got a bit confused as to why Oberyn volunteered to be tyrion's champion so I looked it up. Here it is in case anyone else was confused:
"It all starts with the fact that Oberyn Martells sister, Elia, was married to Rhaegar Targeryn. During Robert Baratheon's rebellion, Tywin Lannister sacked Kings Landing. The Mountain (Gregor Clegane) is a sworn bannerman of Tywin Lannister and during the sacking of the city, he murdered the children of Elia and Rhaegar and raped Elia with the blood of her son still on his hands. Later he murdered Elia as well.
Tywin Lannister wrapped the bodies of the two children in Lannister Crimson and presented them to Robert Baratheon for which Robert took him as a bannerman and married his daughter Cercei.
Oberyn Martell had been looking for revenge all this while and he gets the chance when Tyrion Lannister demands a Trial by Combat because Cercei had already called upon The Mountain as her champion in case a Trial by Combat situation arises. This motivates Oberyn to step up as Tyrion's champion and fight for him in the Trial by Combat."

It kind of bums me out that Bronn bailed on Tyrion. "The day I fear a dwarf's wrath is the day I drown myself in a cask of red."
So much for innocent until proven guilty!
What's the "Doom"?
Brianna wrote: "What's the "Doom"?"Eh? Where was that? The only thing with "doom" I can think about is the Doom of Valyria?
Brianna wrote: "Yeah- The Doom of Valyria. What is it?"Well, Valyria used to be a great empire where the Targaryens came from with their dragons. But then something happened (Valyria's Doom) and it was destroyed. Now it's in ruins.
Brianna wrote: "I'm curious what the Doom is/was that caused Valyria to be ruined."Me too. There are some theories, I've heard, but I've never read them. To be honest, I'm not sure I like reading other people's theories. It's good to make your own, to have that Eureka! moment and it's fascinating to read other's theories, but it's a spoiler of a sorts and when it happens to be true, instead of being "Holy shit, I never saw that coming!!", you're like "Oh, yeah, so it's true." and that's kind of lame. Unless it's your own theory, in which case you feel smart and get this feeling of smug satisfaction :D

As much as we believe Bronn's in it only for money, I love the little detail of how he actually kind of cared about his dwarfish friend(?) even for just a little bit. Bronn's one of my favorite characters and I think he's the closest to a friend Tyrion's got at the moment. I mean, I believe the guy's in for just about anything, it just turned out to be "fighting the damn Mountain" this time, so he bailed. In related news, Oberyn decided to volunteer as tribute and pants just dropped everywhere in Planetos.
