It's time for another amazing Q&A, this week with J. Daniels! J. is the author of the Alabama Summer series (with book 4, What I Need coming soon!), the Sweet Addiction series, and the much anticipated Dirty Deeds series with the first book, Four Letter Word, coming in October.

Leave your questions for J. below! <3

J. Daniels (authorjdaniels) | 42 comments Lucie wrote: "Hi, how do you decide for names of characters in your books?"

Hi Lucie! Most characters are just names that I like. I'll pick last names from friends or keep those random, but some characters (Joey) are personal friends of mine. :)

J. Daniels (authorjdaniels) | 42 comments Brenna wrote: "How has your life changed the most since publishing your books (either good or bad)?"

Hi Brenna! I think my life has only changed for the good. I was able to support my husband when he decided to change careers and help ease the stress of that, and get my son (who has autism) things he needed. No bad stuff!

J. Daniels (authorjdaniels) | 42 comments LeAnn wrote: "Who has been your favorite female and male characters to write so far?"

Really, this changes with whoever I am currently writing. But I loved created Beth and Reed. They have been favorites of mine for a while now.

Procrastinate getting started?? :) That seems to be a trend.

Hi girl! :)

Thank you so much! I like to think there are little bits of me in all of my characters, but especially Dylan. Her inner thoughts were my inner thoughts.

J. Daniels (authorjdaniels) | 42 comments Betul wrote: "How do you come up with your book titles?"

Hi Betul!
Those are pretty random for the most part. Sometimes I'll hear something in a song and think, oh, that needs to be a title. But sometimes it's just tied to the story somehow.

J. Daniels (authorjdaniels) | 42 comments Maria wrote: "I love both your Sweet Addiction and Alabama Series! I can't wait for your Dirty Deeds brand new books to come out! Four Letter Word grabbed me by the blurb alone! Can you tell us anything more abo..."

Hi Maria!
Thank you so much! I am so excited to share this brand new series with everyone! The wait is KILLING ME! :) I can't say too much about it yet, but what I can say is that each book is a standalone and that currently there are two but there will most likely be more. It is set in North Carolina at the beach. Lots of surfer boys. :)

J. Daniels (authorjdaniels) | 42 comments Michelle wrote: "Did you live or grow up in a place like Ruxton or Chicago?"

Hi Michelle! NO and I wish I did!! I've lived in Maryland most of my life and have never even traveled to Chicago or Alabama yet. I need to get there. Ruxton is actually a town in Maryland.

As of right now, Sydney, who you will meet in Four Letter Word.

message 24: by J. (new)

J. Daniels (authorjdaniels) | 42 comments Katie wrote: "What do you do when you are in a writing rut?"

Hi Katie! Typically I do anything BUT write. I'll go for a run or watch TV. Sometimes it just takes stepping away for a day to get back into the flow.

message 25: by J. (new)

J. Daniels (authorjdaniels) | 42 comments Nicole wrote: "Do you write to music? Do you have a playlist for your books?"

Hi Nicole!
I don't write to music. I can't. I'll get distracted. But I do have playlists for most of my books and I listen to those whenever I'm not writing. For the ones that do have playlists, they can be found in the back of the book.

Thank you so much Dwita!
I love the south. I wish I could live there, so I knew I wanted to write a series about southern alpha men. Ben and Mia's story was a dream I had, and the rest just fell into place after that.

message 31: by Heather (new)

Heather Scully | 18 comments Hey J.,

Love your books! There's not one I can say I didn't enjoy. But I'm curious. Who's story would you say was the hardest to write, male or female...or couple? Who ripped a chunk of your heart and soul off, and left it on the page for us. Thanks! Cannot wait for the new series!

message 32: by Tanja (new)

Tanja Dancy | 87 comments I like books with a happily ever after. Do your books have a HEA? Are they standalone or cliffhanger? What kind of books/authors do you like to read?

J. Daniels (authorjdaniels) | 42 comments Lavi wrote: "Love your books!! I would love to know what was the best/worst experience since you began writing?"

Hi Lavi!
Thank you so much! Best experience is interacting with my readers, whether it's online or in person. I get just as excited as they do. And luckily, I don't have a worst experience (yet), hopefully won't either!

J. Daniels (authorjdaniels) | 42 comments Victoria wrote: "If you could of written any book by another author what would it be? (Mine deffo would of been harry potter!) x"

Hi Victoria!
Oh wow! Great question. Hmm... I love Harry Potter but I am no where near as talented as JK Rowling, so I'll leave that one to her. Honestly, I don't think I would pick another author's book. I'm a reader first, writer second, and I wouldn't want to touch their masterpieces. ;)

message 37: by J. (new)

J. Daniels (authorjdaniels) | 42 comments Laura wrote: "What are some of your favourite things to do when you're not writing?"

Hi Laura!
Play with my kids, go outside, binge watch an entire series on Netflix :)

Hi Heather! Thank you so much!!

Luke and Tessa were the hardest to write for me so far. It killed me keeping them apart. I just want my characters to be happy and when they aren't, I'm not happy. I cried writing most of that book :(

J. Daniels (authorjdaniels) | 42 comments Tanja wrote: "I like books with a happily ever after. Do your books have a HEA? Are they standalone or cliffhanger? What kind of books/authors do you like to read?"

Hi Tanja,
ALL of my books have HEAs! I'm an HEA girl, so I don't think I'll ever write one that doesn't. All of my books are standalones, technically. In my Alabama Summer series, each book is about a different couple, so you can start on any book, but you will get spoilers about the other couples so be warned. No cliffys!!
A few of my favorite authors are Kristen Ashley, Olivia Cunning, Christina Lauren, Katy Evans...

J. Daniels (authorjdaniels) | 42 comments Aleksandra wrote: "If you could spend one day with one of your characters, who would you pick and why? :)"

Hi Aleksandra!

REEEEEED! :) He's my favorite. Or CJ, since he's bumping Reed out of top spot. And obviously, they are super hot so I'd just want to stare at them all day.

Oh my God, I was so nervous!! I was sweating and shaking and my husband had to keep telling me to relax. lol. I still get nervous. I think I always will :)

message 49: by AndiG (new)

AndiG (andigleeson) | 26 comments Hi J,
I know for a lot of NA books, they tend to focus a lot more around sex than anything else. Why did you decide in Sweet Addiction to add more of a story line and focus in on Dylan's boss ass bakery? (not an issue, it was very refreshing to read about!)
