David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments I'm looking forward to being a member of this group as a reader, but I'm also an author, and as this is the place to tell you all about it, here it is:

I have so far written two books that will hopefully be of interest to the group: Imperfect Strangers (a psychological thriller) & VOID (a psychological mystery).

Imperfect Strangers by David M. Staniforth VOID by David M. Staniforth

I also write fantasy, so in the hope that some of you might venture from fantastic thrillers to thrilling fantasy, I thought I might mention them too: I have a completed trilogy Fuel to the Fire Ruler's Desire Elemental Cascade & a series Alloria Eye of Dominion

Fuel to the Fire (Fuel to the Fire, #1) by David M. Staniforth Ruler's Desire (Fuel to the Fire, #2) by David M. Staniforth Elemental Cascade (Fuel to the Fire #3) by David M. Staniforth Alloria (Labyrinth of labyrinths, #1) by David M. Staniforth Eye of Dominion (Labyrinth of Labyrinths, #2) by David M. Staniforth

Lovely to have you with us David, and congratulations on your work!

message 3: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments Thank you, Brenda. I'm hoping to have a few more thrillers in the future, but fantasy keeps calling to me :~)

It's good that you (and other writers) can vary their genres. Some have quite a number of different genres they write! Good for us readers :)

message 5: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments Yes, I like to vary my writing as much as my reading; each has their pleasures and difficulties and it stops things from getting stale.

Brenda | 11951 comments Mod
I guess that's true, as it's certainly true for me as a reader. I read most genres - some not, but most I do:)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments Okay then, back from a lazy holiday, things that needed sorting are sorted, and now it's time to get down to some writing. And what better way to start than to review the book I read before holidaying and the two I read while doing so. I reckon I'm getting better at deciding what to read, as for me, all three were worthy of five stars:

The Slow Regard of Silent Things (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #2.5) by Patrick Rothfuss https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Play Dead by Angela Marsons https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

The Illegal Gardener (The Greek Village, #1) by Sara Alexi https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Well done! Glad your holiday was a good one (reading wise anyway!)

message 9: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments Relaxing wise, too. Thank you.

Ahh very important!

message 11: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments Yay! VOID is flying high down under :~)

Amazon Bestsellers Rank: #1,812 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)
#29 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Thrillers > Psychological
#210 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Mystery

Most likely this is because of members in this group, so thank you.

That's wonderful David!

message 13: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments Thanks, Brenda; it was nice to see.

message 14: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments As the thread title indicates, writing just isn't on the cards right now.
The reason: a new addition to the family, named Dexter.

Love Dexter! He's adorable - be prepared to be very distracted for quite awhile ;)

message 16: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments Thanks, Brenda. More distracted than expected. It's like having a baby that can run. He is into everthing.

message 17: by Brenda, Suspense lover! (new)

Brenda | 11951 comments Mod
Hahaha!!! And his little needle teeth wrecking everything as well ;)

message 18: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments So far, diligence and distraction are working well.

message 19: by Brenda, Suspense lover! (new)

Brenda | 11951 comments Mod
Ah but it's only been a few days ;) Give him time! lol

message 20: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments Yep, I am expecting it. I just hope it's not my speakers.

message 21: by Brenda, Suspense lover! (new)

Brenda | 11951 comments Mod
You need to raise everything - including speakers - very high ;)

message 22: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments They're tall floor standing speakers. I think I will wrap some cardboard around the bottom. Better safe than sorry.

message 23: by Brenda, Suspense lover! (new)

Brenda | 11951 comments Mod
Haha! Good plan :) And good luck!

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments Just want to let you folks know that my novel Imperfect Strangers has been included in the Amazon winter sale, and is available right now for only 99c :-)

How's the gorgeous Dexter doing?

Thanks David. Added it to my Kindle:)

message 29: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments Thanks all, the book is at 32 in the Australian psychological thriller chart at the moment.

Dexter is growing fast, but still looks and behaves like the pup he is. I'm busy over the weekend, so I'll post some pics early next week.

message 30: by Brenda, Suspense lover! (new)

Brenda | 11951 comments Mod
I bet he's a lot bigger than the original picture you showed us :) Looking forward to seeing updated ones :)

message 31: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments I'm hoping to get back to writing soon, but just need to re-extend my vocabulary beyond "sit", "down", "off", "stay" etc…

Meanwhile, as promised, here's a couple of pictures of the creature responsible for my lack of typed words: Left pic, Dexter trying his paw at fishing on the patio: Right pic, Dexter meeting his cousin (my sister's dog, who's only five weeks older than Dexter) this weekend.

Normal service will be resumed soon (hopefully) :~/

message 32: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 2079 comments They're both lovely! Dexter has grown quite a bit.

message 33: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments More than doubled in size. Quite a handfull some days!

message 34: by Brenda, Suspense lover! (new)

Brenda | 11951 comments Mod
Wow! He has grown so much David! I can believe you are quite distracted - how could you not be? Dexter wants your attention 24/7...

Great pics and the comparison in size between the two dogs is amazing!

message 35: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 47 comments Yes, we thought he was really big until we saw him next to my sister's dog.

message 36: by Brenda, Suspense lover! (new)

Brenda | 11951 comments Mod
He looks big when he's by himself :) But your sister's dog is huge!
