Cari - here's the Good Read list of best WWII books, so we can keep our streak alive! LOL

You both have me beat - I've only read 6 on the list. I think my perceptions of being inundated by WWII stories is based on the flood of films that still come out highlight various aspects of the war. It was a life-changing event for so many, I can understand. But I think Tanya nails it when noting that too many in Book Club would most likely lead to repetition in discussions.
My most recent historical interest has been Revolutionary War themed, where I read the bios "American Sphinx: the Character of Thomas Jefferson" and "Alexander Hamilton" (and years ago I read "John Adams" by David McCullough). They all do a great job of separating the myth and legend from the reality, and humanized these great, if flawed, shapers of our country. I also recently read "SPQR: A History of Ancient Rome", and a friend recommended another Ancient Rome historical work recently, so that may be my next historical foray. So much history, so little time. :)
Keith have you ever read A People's History of the United States? It's one of my top 10 favorite. The book covers our history through the stories never truly touched upon in school - slavery, manifest destiny, Columbus and the like. Some may think it is condemnation or radical, but I found it to be important.
