I've read the PJO books when they first started coming out, so picking up this book was sort of a mandatory part on my list of things to do in my life.
Oh man I loved The Hidden Oracle! Finished the book within 6 hours or less. It's pretty small, but it's much like the original PJO series which was great. I loved Apollo's voice, it's very distinct, and he's absolutely hilarious. He's selfish and quite narcissistic, but that's what you get for being a former God. It's also what makes his narration hilarious and unique. The book was better than expected, but at the same time I set my expectations on low after being slightly disappointed with the end of BOO. I'm going to write what I liked down below, and will try to keep spoilers to a minimum.
Some of the things that I liked are:
- Rick did not ignore the fact that Apollo is most definitely not straight with mentions of Hyacinthus and other previous lovers, which leads to
- Canon Bi Apollo heCk YES
- Apollo's huge ego and narcissism I loved every bit of it
- LGBT+ representations and more diversity within the demigods
- Percy gets to actually relax and be on the sidelines for once (he deserves it)
- SALLY JACKSON!!
- Meg Macaffrey was a wonderful new character and her development. I can't wait to see what else is in store for her.
- Getting to know some of of Apollo's kids
- The jokes and puns. The Hidden Oracle is probably the funniest book Rick has put out so far in the PJO universe
Being a Riordan fan since I was a kid, I am most definitely going to continue the series. Was the plan from the get go really. Even if I ended up not liking this book.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought that Rick Riordan gave us a reasonable continuation of the series and I will most definitely continue on with the next books.
Likes:
-Apollo being bi(I really agree with Denisa on this one)
-New camper involvement
-Demeter spotlight
-Loved will and nico together
-Fast-paced
Dislikes:
-Short(although that didn't really matter)
-Apollo was sometimes annoying, but I think he was meant to be that way
-I don't think this was nearly as funny as rick's other book and that was sort of a let down
-No annabeth!
-The last pages when something big occurred seemed to be rushed and unexplained
As you can tell the likes balance out the dislikes, but I still really loved the book. It definitely didn't meet my expectations, but my expectations were so high after Magnus Chase and The Blood of Olympus(I loved both of those). Still, if you are a PJ fan you should totally read this. It's worth your time.
Hi, I'm Karla and I rated it 5 stars. I loved this book, simply said. When going into any book I try to keep my expectations down to a minimum, by avoiding theories and any extra information about it. This allowed the bar to be reasonably low, or as low as it can be if it's a Rick Riordan book. As a book on its own, it could be a little confusing if you haven't read the previous series, but having read and loved the others I was so excited to see old characters through new eyes. So let's go on to what I liked and didn't like:
Likes:
-Apollo's complaining and views on demi-god life.
-New demi-gods.
-Apollo's relationship with his kids.
-Older character cameos and name dropping.
-Will and Nico.
-The haikus
Dislikes:
-Quite short.
-Didn't feel like the story had come to a reasonable end.
As you can see, I loved it. I'm not sure I can wait for the next ones. I would recommend this to anyone who's read the previous series as they all link together. My dislikes do link together because if there was more of a solid ending, the book night not have felt so short. I'll probably re-read it to try and pick up some stuff I missed (I always do). So, briefly said, you should definitely give this book a try.

Hey guys so I'm Reily and I rated the book 5 stars.
I've read almost all of Rick's other books, and this is quickly becoming one of my favorites. It took me about three days to read the book, with it being on the shorter side and a bit of an easier read. What I love most about the book is while it centers on Apollo, we still get to see what the old characters are doing, like Percy trying to graduate, and Travis going to college. I think the book had a good pace, with it setting up the story for future books in the series. This has definitely been one of the funnier books Rick has written, matching the humor of the Percy Jackson series.
Likes:
-Being able to see the old characters
-Apollo's humor all throughout
-The Haikus
-Loved seeing Nico be happy for once
-Nico and Will's relationship
-Apollo's relationship with his kids
Dislikes:
-The books may have been 400 pages, but it seemed short to me

Oh. Okay. I just really liked it. Because I was laughing out loud a lot!(:

Book: The Hidden Oracle
Author: Rick Riordan
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars
Return to the world of Percy Jackson with Apollo! Now, it has been years since I've read a Rick Riordan book. When one of my Goodreads group decided to read it for our Book of the Month, I decided to give it a try. I even went out and bought it the day it came out.
Apollo is such a fun god to write a book about. Rick always does an amazing job with writing the gods, but there was just something about having a book from Apollo's point of view that really added. Plus, it also helps that characters from other books make an appearance. There is just something about Apollo's voice that just makes him a great lead. I love the humour and how his past is brought up. He's not a super serious lead, but I just feel in love with him. He's really not a guy you are supposed to like, but, I don't know, I just love him as the lead of the series. Plus, all the comments that he makes about humans are just too funny!
I have always been a fan of Rick's writing. It is so simple, but has a mature flare that makes it a good fit for just about any age group. I also like the fact that he does through in so much history and mythology. His books are the perfect way to learn about the different gods and cultures. I did also like the way he wrote Apollo-have I said that enough?
So, why four stars? Well, I did like Apollo and I am still a huge fan of Rick. However, this was nothing new for Rick. Unlike Cassandra Clare, to me this book really did not add anything to the world he has created. Plus, the story just wasn't complete. The action just seemed be to crammed into the last twenty-five pages and it kind of left me disappointed. I know Rick can write better action. I've read it before.
Overall, not a bad book. I'm glad I read it and will probably finish the series out. The only bad thing is that it will probably be next year before the next book comes out.

I have loved Rick Riordan for a long time. I was really disappointed with this book. It breaks my heart to feel that way. I gave it 3 stars overall. It just did not live up to expectations.
In comparison to his other books, this one did not meet up to par. I felt Apollo was whiny, and oddly, I didn't like the insane, constant, pop culture references.
I feel Apollo has a lot of promise, and I am hoping to see massive amounts of character growth and hopefully less conceitedness.
I always love when any of Riordan's books have characters from Percy Jackson show up. I was a fan of Leo in Heroes of Olympus. I am hoping to see Jason, Piper, Frank, and Hazel show up sometime in the series.
I had super high expectations before reading this story. I wished it delivered. Again, most of my issues were the type of character Apollo is written as, and all of the pop culture references. It really took me off guard because that was not really in any other books.
It only took me a couple of days to read the book, given that I am usually pretty busy and only have certain time slots to read. I will continue on with the series, because I have high hopes for the rest due to Riordan's characters always growing into better people.
