Anyway, what will be your second seconded book?
(You seem very eager for The Help. It's in our common tbr. In case if it doesn't win, we can BR it :P)

Rather it's the wacky Hobbit maturing to a wiser LOTR
LOTR is not only wiser, but also more graceful, complex and appealing. Btw, in Poland Hobbit is a mandatory reading for Secondary School (~13 yr olds)
The target audience for LOTR is approx. the same kids grown up reading the Hobbit. Probably JRR built up more complexity and concepts of Middle earth by then.
I'd argue that LOTR is still for a bit more mature reader (16 - 17). But I giess it may be appealing to some, to grow up with Middle Earth - same as Potterheads had the chance to grow up with the next installments of Harry Potter series.I'm still going to skip Hobbit if it wins :) I've read it once, and do not want to do it twice
EDIT: Yup I've got lucky enough to have some cool mandatory readings while at school: Hobbit, Harry Potter and Philosoper's Stone... :)
