NetGalley: May 2016

I also took an honest look at my Netgalley shelf, and sorted a few that either would be on the shelf till dust & cobwebs formed mountains or those that are depending on previous books on the series that are on the TBR for more than 2 years.
Which improved my feedback a little - I am now at 75%, with 11 books on the reading list.
Time to get to the 80%, with actual feedback sent!

I love this challenge! It's making me feel less alone about receiving NetGalley books and reading/reviewing them with no feedback or acknowledgement.

That's why I try not to open them! I still get sucked in most times though. :)

I would like to finish that one and Lilac Girls this month. At least I've been much better about not requesting this month.

Sorry you didn't like it. That's disappointing. Your link doesn't seem to be working though. It just brings me back to this page.

also lilac girls sound so interesting (mostly because I love anything to do with WW2) I'll be looking forward to your review and what you think about it in general.
@connie I know! I don't know why I didn't like it as much as every body else but ehh every one has different tastes.

Mercedes Lackey is one of my favorite authors but some of her later books haven't been as good as her earlier ones. This one is not very interesting and so far I don't like any of the characters. :(

Alison - Just keep reading, you'll be fine. ^^b

Me, too! Sometimes I read a book and think "Eck, two stars! How can anyone like this?" and see that x hundred people gave it four or five stars. To each her own!
Megan - Excellent, welcome to Netgalley! As for not letting your shelf get packed, it's hard! I give myself a limit, only a couple of requests at a time and no more than two books waiting to be read. In the beginning your feedback ratio swings a bunch (0%... 100%! ...50%. Eep) but that's to be expected. We aren't even eligible for the 80% badge until we have 20 books under our belt, so slow and steady wins the race. But what a fun race! ;)
I'm curious, what book did you get? :)
Megan wrote: "I just got my first Netgalley approval :) Very happy about that. Do you guys have any tips on how to not let my shelf get packed?"
Hooray!
Like Kazen, I limit myself. I generally read 12-15 books per month so I don't have more than 8-10 books on my NG shelf as I need to feel like it is achievable to read them in a decent amount of time!!
I also ignore the emails from Netgalley (sure fire way to request too many books) and try not to go searching for books on there until I'm back down to only a couple unread. Good luck!!

Welcome! And congrats on your first approval. I also ignore (most of) the emails. Otherwise, I end up surfing for new books on there all the time. It can be really hard not to request new books when you see all the new books on there.

My major problem is that when I first signed up, I requested tons of books, not really thinking about how long it would take to read/review them. Since I sent my reviews right away (at first), I guess I got put on the "we like her" list, so now I'm auto-approved for a couple of my favorite publishers. I let myself get talked into more books than I could read, falling further and further behind.
Limiting yourself within your regular reading capacity is the best idea, I think. Don't let yourself get out of control or you'll soon start feeling guilty (like I do) about not contributing as well or as quickly as you should. And, of course, you'll be able to read the books later when they are released. It's not like you'll be missing anything. :)

I'm beginning to think that this is it. ;)

Invited:

Got

I may have sent out a whole bunch of wishes for Entangled books I didn't get selected for when they sent out the email. And only did 2 real requests.

I'm beginning to think that this is it. ;)"
Haha I'd have to agree with that!

I am going to try to finish one to review this weekend too.

Oh yeah Justin is on there to get more worldwide us viewers. Did he actually sing the Norwegian song?

He had a chat with the presenter, plugged his film, then did a medley during the interval. Sorry think my brain has fried from the shirt ripping :)
