Ahh. I just read A People's Future of the United States: Speculative Fiction from 25 Extraordinary Writers, which is composed of a bunch of mainly brilliant short stories. Victor Lavalle, who came up with the idea, based his pitch to the authors on Zinn's A People's History of the United States. I assume you have read that one. Great, sad, important book.

Don't think there are any deep fat fryers in it though.
