Okay, here's a guess: Something to do with the number of females in prisons? I think the rate that females are going to prison has been increasing especially in recent years.

DING DING DING! In 2013, 118,000 people in the USA (give or take) were injured or killed with guns, accidentally, deliberately, homicidally, suicidally -- you name it.

Now there's a club NOBODY wants to join.

Not everyone who was shot was killed. Not by (you should pardon the expression) a long shot. Only about 1 out of 10 died.
