Which member of the family do you think had the most influence, either during his or her life or for the future?

happy (happyone) | 142 comments Probably Edward I - not just because he annexed Wales ( permanently - at least to this point), but his shaping of the judicial system. IIRC, Costain refered to him as the English Justinian.

I think Henry V could have been, if he hadn't died so young.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 75 comments Probably either Edward I, both for the annexation of Wales and for his judicial reforms, or Edward III, who made nearly as many legal and government innovations as his grandfather, and also kicked off the Hundred Years' War.

Henry V would probably be up there, if he had lived longer. Henry II is also a good candidate.

Kimber (kimberlibri) | 14 comments Edward III for all of his accomplishments during his reign. Also the fact that the descendants of his children were directly responsible for The War of the Roses which led to the rise of The Tudors which led to the Church of England. Europe might have an entirely different face without those events transpiring.

Charlene | 24 comments Though many think of him as Bad King John, just consider Magna Carta. English history and all future reigns might have looked very different.

I agree about John and the Magna Carta. I hope we will be able to read Magna Carta: The Birth of Liberty as a group.
