What are your thoughts on your local library? Do you think that it is an outstanding facility, a very good one, good, fair or poor and why?

What would you like to see your library do that it might not be doing?

Did you borrow the books you are reading today from your library? Or did you purchase them?

My library is outstanding - I would imagine the facility might be in the top 1%. Not sure about the second question.

I did not borrow the books that I am reading today from my library - one of them was a free book offer and the other I purchased from Barnes and Noble.

Mine, is small but good. Even better though, is the inter-library loan system that Los Angeles County Library system has. I can get books from any library in the system and they even have online books to rent in my Kindle app. All of the books I am reading today, came to me via the inter-library loan system.

I was spoiled by my library up north. It was even written up in the NY times as one of the most outstanding. The ones down here are ok but don't have the great programs we had at our library on Long Island. The book I'm reading today I bought with a gift certificate from Barnes and Noble.

forgot the 2nd question. My local one has a fair amount of floor space left. They could add more shelves and books. And get the computer and copiers there fixed.

I love my library. We have something called Link+ where you can get books from nearby libraries in the system. I live in Berkeley, CA and have gotten books from as far away as UNLV, and they're delivered to my local library.

My library (Berkeley County, SC) is mediocre, with interlibrary loans that I think are completed by people in no hurry at all. So I joined the Charleston County Library for $40 a year, and it's well worth the price of admission. The library is in the top 3% of the nation, which is impressive given that SC tradition was to have private, membership-based libraries until the 1930s or later.

I like e-books, so that's where I want my libraries to invest.

The book I'm reading today was received through a free book offer.

I haven't really spent much time at our library since moving to San Antonio but getting a card was one of the first things I did when I moved here. I know that the entire library system (i.e. locations) are very active with book events, book clubs, etc. The staff have all been very helpful and accommodating. We also have a completely digital location with computers, laptops, and e-readers to use and staff to help you learn to use all of the devices / databases.

I have been reading both hardbound and Kindle editions of books today. I have purchased all of them except our current free Spotlight selection.

Yes, my library has that too - and to be honest - we have tremendous library systems here

Glynn a great many people have experienced that when moving from the New York area.

That is too bad when things do not get maintained.

You are also in a great area for libraries.

Since I received my Kindle (8 years ago now), I don't buy physical books anymore, but I do utilize my library for those books that are not available in the Kindle store. In Pennsylvania, we are able to borrow books from any library in the state. Villanova University is one of my alma maters, and I can borrow books directly from the library as well.

I read both books for the readathon on my Kindle.
