Hello all Readathoners at the HBC Readathon,

Here are a couple of things to talk about.

a) What kind of music are you listening to right now - Name the album, artist, song, type of music and if you can add a link so that we can listen in - that would be great.

b) If you could add a painting or a work of art to exemplify what you are reading - what would that art look like - post the image and tell us a little bit about it.

OK I will go first - I am listening to Spotify and the Thou Shalt Rock album - the Pope Francis Rock Wake Up Album - here it is - sleeping is not an option for me

Samanta (almacubana) a) I'm not listening to anything currently because it's midnight here and I do not want to disturb my neighbours, but I did listen to some Celtic instrumental mixes on youtube during the day. I heard it's good for concentration.

b) My current reading material can be summed up like this:

All the dilemmas girl/women go through in their heads until they figured out who they are and how to be themselves.

The album sounds really interesting.

The big question Samanta - it is interesting because it is interspersed with the pope either praying or speaking in Italian and then the music takes over -

I was curious when Spotify stated that the Pope had dropped a Rock album on Spotify.

The combination of both is what is interesting. I was doubly happy to hear him pray in Spanish, his native language (and one of my favorite languages).

Karen (karinlib) I can't listen to music and read at the same time, one will distract me from the other.

While I was reading On the Beach by Nevil Shute by Nevil Shute Nevil Shute, all I could think of was being on a beach with an ominous thundercloud coming closer, and nowhere to take shelter.

Very good Karen - sometimes I can't either if I am listening to the lyrics.

But can you or anybody else find a work of art or image that represents to you what an image in your mind is while reading it.

message 20: by Teri (new)

Teri (teriboop) I was not listening to music, per se. I sat outside for a while on our patio and listened to all of the beautiful birds singing in our back yard. And the doves fighting for the food in the bird feeder.

I just finished a wonderful cozy book about the lives of three women, reminiscing about their past through the stories each charm tells on a charm bracelet. My mom had a couple of charm bracelets and I have started one, so it was great to wax nostalgic of my own past.

Here is my image for the book I just read, The Charm Bracelet. My mom's bracelet looks similar:

Wow did she have that many charms - that is a wonderful image of so many highlights of her life.

Teri (teriboop) Yes, in fact she had started a 2nd and had a few charms on it. I think my Dad has them both, but may have one of them. That will be on my to-do list tonight, see if I have hers and get my own out. I need to start adding to it some more.

Yes, I think the book inspired you today and may have made you a bit nostalgic.
