ABANDONED. Opens with a description of the Beer Hall Putsch - historical fiction or could even be non-fiction

A few years ago, most likely 2014. And I don't think it was Stephen Fry, I don't think I've actually ever read anything by him!

Ohh thanks for that, I've had a look but I don't think it was that one. I'm starting to think it was a straight up non-fiction now, so I might be in the wrong place!
Hitlerland: American Eyewitnesses to the Nazi Rise to Power definitely talks about the Beer Hall Putsch (I don't know if the book opens with it). And afterwards Hitler is demoralized and goes into brief hiding in the home of a German-American friend and supporter and his wife, and her claim was that Hitler was suicidal and she talked him out of it. Shortly after, he was arrested. It's nonfiction.
Rereading my review, I just noticed that The Fox in the Attic (a novel) has a passage (I can't remember how long) about the putsch. Apparently it's at the end, though...
From the description: "The book reaches a climax with a brilliant description of the Munich putsch and a disturbingly intimate portrait of Adolph Hitler."

I know this isn't a lot to go on but I can really clearly remember a sentence about a small man walking into a meeting with a gun in the air smiling - I think this is later revealed to be Hitler.
Any help would be great thanks!
