Thomas | 114 comments I wouldn't put it past D&D because of the writing for Dorne, Stannis, and Ramsay so far but this has writings of it's a ploy all over it. First off Shaggydog's head is way too small, especially in comparison to Greywind's from 3 seasons ago. Then you have the weird interaction between the Smalljon and Ramsay. He has open hatred for Ramsay. He insults him left and right and even Roose. What does Ramsay do? Weirdly nothing. Reminds me of the scene between the Greatjon and Robb, where the Greatjon questions Robb's authority and Robb shows he won't be bullied. The Greatjon became Robb's staunchest supporter after that. For a series that emphasizes the importance of oaths, it's odd that none were taken. If the Smalljon is smart enough to see through Roose being "poisoned by his enemies" then he is smart enough to realize that the Greatjon was captured/killed? by House Bolton. Then you come to his reasoning behind his switch to House Bolton - Jon Snow let the wildlings through. Why would you blame House Stark for this? It's not like Rickon told Jon to do that. Jon isn't even a Stark to begin with. We are also in the North, and those houses understand better than most that a bro from the NW gives up their name and titles and aren't seen as part of their old house anymore. Then lastly, Rickon was last scene in season 3? We are to believe that it took three seasons for Rickon to make his way to the Last Hearth and then the Umbers to decide to betray him? It's so illogical. But then again this is coming from the people who made House Martell extinct....

I think this season is about tying up loose ends & we are going to see a lot more deaths before it ends....In the books Rickon's story will be a lot more complex, but the show hasn't got the time now, and Rickon has been gone for a long time...The fans want Jon & Sansa to win and for one of them to rule the North and Rickon is in their way...And yes you said it well....Look at the Martell botch job, need I say more.....;)

Holly (goldikova) Another thing that really threw my suspension of disbelief was when Roose Bolton legitimized Ramsay. That was the dumbest thing a smart guy could do; after all, Ramsay kept doing whatever dirty deed Roose asked of him in hopes of being legitimized someday. Why did he not realize that Ramsay would not hesitate to kill him once he was heir?

It just doesn't make sense to give a character such an ability to manipulate others and have a political mastermind and yet trust a vicious killer with his life.

I called BS when it happened, so this season I already knew Ramsay was going to kill Roose.

Thomas | 114 comments Show Roose and book Roose are different. Though the show Roose is really good. In the books Ramsay is clearly afraid of Roose. Mix of admiration, fear, and wanting to please him. Those combined would keep him from killing Roose, though he may in TWOW.

In the books doesn't Roose surmise that one day his son would kill him? It's the one aspect of Roose that I didn't quite 'get'...Why would he tolerate Ramsay when he knows that Ramsay killed his legitimate son, Domeric(I think?).....But Roose is an odd man.....and his son is a psycho, so there you go.....

Thomas | 114 comments I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised. Roose is not an idiot and plays the long game. I've always thought of Roose and Ramsay's relationship to be akin to Sith master and apprentice (Star Wars). Roose doesn't care that Ramsay killed Domeric bc it shows how ruthless Ramsay is, something Roose admires. Roose probably instigated Ramsay to kill Domeric in the first place. Also Ramsay inherited Roose's eyes, which I don't think Domeric did. For some reason GRRM emphasized this frequently in the books.
